Not Even a Stain

Abused

Best watch where you step,

The ground's prone to shake;

As sands slide and shift,

With the pull of the waves.

Like memories, huh?

Washed over with time;

Tossed for a while,

Till buried out of sight.

I still now will startle,

When images slip;

I never liked change;

Or when favor flips.

And how about you?

Can you be so unfazed?

Amnesia, it burns,

And yet you're unscathed.

I'm drowning, dying,

Hello, won't you see?

The weeds of your garden,

They sprout over me.

How many locked doors?

With keys never found;

To a past you'll forget,

By then I'll have drowned.

This tick in our ears,

A bomb you ignore;

And death, how it looms,

Right through the next door.

Gone we'll both be,

Like dust on the breeze;

Some forgotten dream,

Too dead to achieve.

We'll watch life crumble,

Like ash in our hands;

Regretting the secrets,

We couldn't understand.

You're like a magician,

Hide truth out of sight;

And easy it is,

I'm desperate for light.

But wait and you'll see,

Won't show I'm afraid;

Still I flicker, fade,

The longer you reign.

The future is bleak,

It is, yes, for you;

When my ashes fall,

What will you turn to?

Who will you lean on?

Or manipulate?

Who will you suck from?

When I'm all but drained.

No, you won't concede,

You won't even now;

But that's not a change,

In you, all things drown.

Even these words have no sound.
