Steve woke up extremely confused. He wasn't in the place he had fallen asleep, and it took him a minute to realize where exactly he was. Eddie's bed. How he got there? He had no clue, which quite honestly terrified him.

As soon as he walked out of the room, he could smell food. He was happy he'd have something to eat, but that also meant Eddie was awake. Meaning he couldn't just slip out the door and go home, ignoring what happened yesterday.

"You making pancakes?" He asked, walking into the kitchen.

"Waffles, Harrington. They're waffles. Big difference." Eddie replied, pouring batter in his waffle maker.

"Aren't they made with the same mix?" Steve asked, reading the box.

"Yeah... but they're prepared way differently, idiot." Eddie replied.

Steve just stared at him, "Taste the same."

"You can fuck off if you're gonna tell me they taste the same." Eddie stared straight back, fighting back a smile.

"They're made of the same batter! How could they not taste the same?!" Steve spoke with genuine confusion.

Eddie shook his head, "I'm done with this conversation."

"I'm serious! How, if they're made with the same batter with the same ingredients, does it taste different?"

"Steve."

"Yeah?

"Have you ever had a fucking waffle?"

"..."

"Steve."

"No."

"OH MY GOD THEN HOW WOULD YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY TASTE LIKE?"

"I DONT KNOW!" Steve laughed. Maybe talking to him again wasn't such a bad idea after all.

"Here. Fucking try one and you'll see what I mean by 'they taste different'." Eddie shoved a plate of waffles his way.

Steve picked up one of the waffles, quickly discovering they were definitely not like pancakes. They were definitely crispier than pancakes. Of course, he put butter and syrup on them, then tried them.

"They taste like pancakes." That was a complete lie. They were wayyy better than any pancake he's ever had, even his mom's.

"Your not very good at lying." Eddie smiled at him, clearly seeing his face light up a bit when he tried them.

"Okay, fine. They might be better than any pancake I've ever had." He replied, stuffing more in his face.

"You got work today?"

"Oh, shit. Yeah, actually I do." Steve replied, "What time is it?"

"9:30."

"Shit, sorry Eddie. Bye!" Steve grabbed his keys and ran out the door, leaving Eddie sat there eating his breakfast alone, yet again.

He didn't necessarily want to leave, but he couldn't leave Robin to fend for herself at the store.

Not only did he have to go home and change, but he also had to pick Robin up. Surprisingly though, they made it on time.

"Wow, I didn't even get a 'good morning' or anything." Robin said, unlocking the back door.

"Sorry. Good morning, m'lady." Steve replied bowing, making her laugh.

Another boring, boring day. Honestly, neither of them knew why or how they were getting paid, but if Keith was stupid enough to pay them, they wouldn't complain. They probably got paid more than the store made in a month.

It was a few hours in and the bell that hung above the door signaled that they had a customer. Steve was too busy messing with the computer to notice, until he heard that familiar voice yet again.

"Watched them all that fast?" Robin asked, taking the movies from the boy's hands.

"I was bored." Eddie replied with a shrug. After he gave Robin the movies, he went off to find new ones.

Steve waited a few minutes before going to find Eddie. "Did you really get so bored without me that you finished all your movies?" He asked, leaning slightly against the wall.

"So what if I did, Stevie?" Eddie got up from his position on the floor, previously flipping through movies.

"Must mean you have a really boring life. Couldn't be me though." Steve teased.

"Really?" Eddie crossed his arms, "At least I'm not the one working in a 40 year old video store that barely gets any customers."

"Yeah?" Steve tilted his head a bit to the side, "At least I don't pay to rent movies from a 40 year old video store that barely gets any customers when I could buy the same movies for the same price."

"Okay, maybe both of our lives are pretty boring." They both couldn't help but laugh, though it was quickly interrupted by another ring from the bell.

"Two customers in the same hour? That's something I thought would never happen." Steve said, walking over to the front to the store to help the customer.

Eddie resumed what he was doing before Steve came over and picked out a few movies. He was slowly building up the courage to ask Steve if he'd like to start hanging out again. Was it too early to ask? Would he scare him off again? What's he supposed to ask, "Wanna hang out again after 2 years of never even glancing at each other because I confessed my feelings for you"?

"Did you find what you were looking for yet or do you need help again?" Steve asked, startling Eddie out of his thoughts.

"Yeah, I'm all set." He replied, walking towards the counter.

"Thank you for last night, I really appreciate it. Oh, and the waffles were delicious." Steve said, scanning all of his movies.

"It's really no problem, it was nice having the company for once other than when we play D&D."

There was a bit of silence before Steve finally asked, "Do you wanna have a fresh start and pretend like the two years we didn't talk never existed?"

Eddie was kind of in shock, Steve basically reading his mind. "Yes, oh my fucking god, yes. You don't know how long I just spent trying to get the courage to ask you."

Eddie pays and leaves after saying goodbye to both Steve and Robin, heading back to his trailer.

i like to try and keep every chapter around 1,000 to 1,500 words so i feel like this is a good  place to leave it for now, but please do tell me if you prefer longer chapters because i can make that happen as well!

love you! <333
