Steve sat in the corner watching everyone play D&D. He didn't feel as sick anymore knowing that his friends were having fun. He couldn't lie, it was quite entertaining watching them play."Aaaand... that wraps up todays session!" Eddie said, standing up, "I'll see all you nerds next week!"
Everyone said their goodbyes, but Steve found himself still sitting there in the corner. As he got up to leave, he heard someone behind him.
"Goodnight Harrington, drive safe." Eddie said, making Steve turn around.
"Yeah, night." Steve replied, grabbing the door handle.
Something stopped him from going out. Eddie was now only a few inches away.
"Look, I don't really care if you actually hate me, but I don't hate you if that wasn't already clear when I invited you in. You don't have to act like you're not welcome even in the vicinity of the trailer park." He gave Steve the same look he always gave when he was being sincere.
Steve looked at him for a second before replying, "Yeah." and heading out the door.
As soon as he got into his car he started it and drove off. He had to get home before all the thoughts got to him and he'd be once again stuck on the side of the road for an hour trying to think straight. That was probably the fastest he's ever drove home in his life.
As soon as he shut the door behind him, he couldn't help it. All the memories of the things they did together came flooding into his mind. Every time he felt butterflies in his stomach whenever Eddie said something about him. How he used to fucking hate those butterflies and wanted so badly to grab each and every one of them and smash them. At that point in time, he couldn't come to terms with what he felt. Every single day, hating himself and Eddie for making him feel the way he did. The things he did were awful.
It took him a while, but eventually he realized he wasn't the "King Steve Harrington" he was in high school. Plus, why would it matter if he liked guys? It's really not anyones business.
The things he said to Eddie that night still haunted him. Sure, he didn't actually hate Eddie, but how could Eddie not hate him? The awful things he said that night still roamed around his mind. "I'm not some fag like you!"
In that moment, he was so scared of the things the other boy told him. The only thoughts in his mind were about how Eddie must have given him some sort of disease or put a chip in his mind, making him feel things about him that he didn't want to feel. He thought he hated Eddie, but in reality, he hated himself.
All the memories of the lies he spread came back as well. Trying to convince people he was straight, that Eddie was trying to get in his pants even though he told him no.
Steve sat in front of the door, knees huddled up to his chest. Tears subconsciously spilled out of his eyes thinking back on everything. All he could think about was how badly he regretted every single second of what happened after Eddie confessed.
He got up off the floor, heading back outside. What he was about to do was either going to be the worst or the best idea he'd ever had. Fuck it, he didn't care which one it was, he just didn't want to be alone.

He got out of the car and waisted no time, walking up and knocking on the door before he had the chance to get too nervous and bail.
"Hey- oh, Harrington. You alright man?"
All Steve could do was shake his head. Eddie pulled him inside without a second thought. As soon as he shut the door he wrapped Steve in a hug.
"Look, of course I have no clue what you're going through, but I'm here." Eddie spoke into Steve's shirt.
Steve let out a quiet sob and hugged Eddie back, telling him "Thank you."
After a minute, he pulled himself together and let go of Eddie, who then did the same. They sat across from each other in Eddie's living room.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Eddie asked.
"Not yet."
"Do you want anything? A snack or a drink?" Eddie questioned, heading into the kitchen.
"Water would be nice, thanks."
Eddie came back with two bottles of water in his hands and sat next to Steve, handing him one of the bottles. He thanked Eddie and took a sip of water, which was nice and cold.
"Can I crash here for the night?" He asked. Eddie stared at him for a second, Steve immediately regretting his words. "Nevermind, I'll-"
"No, it's fine. You can stay."
"No, I'll be fine. It's alright." He replied, about to get off the couch.
"Steve-" Eddie put his hand on the other boys shoulder, "I really don't mind you staying, it's not a big deal."
Steve took a second to study his emotions. He could clearly see that he was being genuine.
"I'm really sorry for just showing up like this." Steve said, sitting back.
"It's okay, really, you clearly needed someone." Eddie, doing the opposite of him and sitting up. "Do you want to watch a movie or something?"
"Sure, but I'll probably fall asleep." He warned.
Eddie got up and grabbed the remote off of the TV stand and switched over to Netflix.
"Wow, you've got all those good old movies from Family Video and you're really gonna choose Netflix? Unbelievable." Steve joked.
"Well, I didn't think you liked horror movies, Stevie."
The nickname. The one he gave Steve when they were close. Steve felt the butterflies once again.
"Well, I don't really care what we watch." He replied, grabbing a blanket and getting comfortable.
"Well, I don't want you to get too scared~" Eddie teased.
There was no response from Steve, who was too tired to speak. Eddie laughed and started looking for a movie to watch. Eventually he found something that interested him and got comfy as well.

After the movie was finished, Eddie glanced over at Steve, only to find him fast asleep. Being the gentleman he was, he gently picked the boy up and carried him as carefully as he could to his bed. He made sure he was tucked under a blanket before he left to go back to the couch, sleeping there for the night. No matter how badly he wanted to stay with the boy who was currently sleeping in his bed.
