Eddie got the notification that their food had arrived and carefully got out of bed, trying not to wake Steve up yet.
Once he got the food inside, he grabbed a few plates and tried his best to make the dinner look nice and fancy. He used the nicest plates and silverware they had and poured the two of them a glass of soda, setting everything over on the table once finished.
He walked back to his room to wake up Steve and made sure every step he took was silent, making sure the door didn't close too hard behind him as well.
"Hey, food's ready." He said, gently shaking Steve awake.
Steve sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes and giving himself a little time to adjust to being awake again. After a minute, he followed Eddie into the kitchen.
As soon as he stepped in, he was flattered by what the other boy did. He sat down across from Eddie, waiting for him before he started eating.
The two ate together, Steve thanking Eddie multiple times for not only buying him food but also for making an effort to make it look fancy. It was nice for Eddie to feel appreciated once again.
After they ate, the cleaned up the table and washed their dishes before they decided to go back to laying down in Eddie's room.
"Hey look at this." Steve said handing Eddie his phone.
Eddie scrolled through the article and handed Steve his phone back. "What about it?"
"It starts tomorrow." Steve replied, staring back down at his phone.
"Is this your way of telling me that you'd like to go?"
"Possibly."
"Well, Harrington, If you're asking me on a date... I'm not declining."
"Sure, why not?"
"Really?" Eddie was a little shocked that he actually said that, especially so fast. "Do you really wanna go on a date with The Freak? In public? Where there'll be a lot of people we know?"
"Yeah, I don't talk to anyone from high school besides you, Robin, and Nance anyways."
If he was being completely honest, he did care. He cared a lot, actually, but he loved carnivals. He'd never turn down a date with Eddie, either.
"Do you work tomorrow?" Eddie asked, checking the time on his phone.
"No, Keith said the stores gonna be closed tomorrow. Why?" Steve asked.
"It's getting a little late so I wanted to make sure you didn't have to be up at the asscrack of dawn before I kept you up any later." Eddie replied, "I'm honestly getting kinda tired tho."
"Yeah, work was so boring that it was exhausting." Steve said, "I'm still tired after that nap."
Eddie chuckled and sat up, grabbing his phone and a blanket.
"Where are you going?" Steve sat up shortly after Eddie did.
"To the couch." Eddie replied, "You can have the bed, extra blankets are in a basket at the end."
"Oh, ok." He contemplated whether or not he should ask him to stay. As much as he wanted him to, he figured that Eddie needed the space for a bit, giving Eddie a small wave and tight smile as he left the room.

The longer he sat in the bed, the harder it was for him to fall asleep. So many thoughts running through his brain, constantly keeping him up. Eventually, he decided he had enough of his thoughts and started making his way to the kitchen for some water.
He tried his best not to make the floor creak, but it was extremely difficult in the old trailer.
Once he had a sip of the water, he started immediately feeling better. He sat on the floor in front of the sink for a bit while he drank the rest of his water. No matter what he did, the one thought he couldn't get out of his head was how bad he wanted to run. Run far away from Eddie, this trailer, his life here. Yet at the same time he wanted so badly to stay. He felt like he just ruins everyone he love's lives. He was the reason Barb died that night, he was the reason Eddie's last two years of high school were hell, the reason Eddie almost dropped out. It's only a matter of time before he does or says something that hurts someone, that person most likely being Eddie.
"You alright there?" He was startled by the familiar voice, quickly looking over to see Eddie standing in the doorway.
"Yeah, just needed some water." Steve said, holding up his cup.
"Me too." Eddie replied, grabbing a glass from the cabinet and filling it. He sat down next to the other, intertwining their hands once he was down.
The longer Eddie kept their hands clasped together, the more Steve started to realize how badly he didn't want to leave him. Just as Eddie was about to get up and go back to the couch, he held him back.
"Stay. Please." he said, "At least, go back to your room. I'll be there in a little bit."
"Yeah, sure." Eddie replied, putting his glass in the sink and heading back to his room.
Steve slowly finished his water before heading back to Eddie's room. He didn't know what he was going to say, but he figured he would be ok. Once he got in the room, he shut the door behind him.
Eddie was laying on the bed, waiting for Steve. He opened the covers so that Steve could get in, Steve doing so immediately.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you wanted me to stay earlier, otherwise I definitely would have." He said, putting his head in the crook of Steve's neck.
"Well, I figured maybe you needed space so I just let you go." Steve replied, "But then I started thinking about a bunch of things and the thoughts wouldn't stop so I couldn't sleep. I decided some water might slow the thoughts down."
"We'll do you feel better?" He asked, rubbing circles on the other boy's shoulder.
"Yeah, I can't really tell if the water worked or not. I've noticed that your like the only thing that makes my thoughts chill out." Steve turned around to face Eddie, seeing him smiling at him, and he couldn't help but smile back. Eddie's smile was definitely one of the most contagious.
"I'm glad I can help." He replied, giving Steve a short kiss. At this point, Steve was too relaxed and tired to realize this was there second first kiss.
He wrapped his arms around the taller boy and felt him immediately relax, realizing how much of an effect he actually had on Steve. He had to be extremely careful with this one, he couldn't fuck this up.
