The next morning came after a much needed sleep, both Harry and Severus slept through the night. After a hearty breakfast with happy conversation, Harry was feeling better than he had in years. The owls came swooping in delivering mail and packages to the students and teachers, envelopes dropping all around.
Harry wasn't expecting anything, he hadn't received any letters from any of his friends since he graduated.
Severus was opening a package he had ordered from Flourish and Blotts, ripping the wrapping to reveal a fancy leather-bound book.
Harry sipped his orange juice, snapping his teeth into a sausage link. Without warning a package landed in the middle of his plate.
THUD!
A small wrapped box with an envelope attached.
Harry opened the envelope, surprised to see it was from Ron.
Dear Harry,
Sorry for the long break between letters, things have been very busy! Hermione and I have gotten married! I've taken over as the owner of George's shop, after Fred passed away he lost his love for it. Hermione moved into the burrow with my family, my brothers all moved out so it's quiet with just my Mother and Father. I want to invite you to come meet us at the burrow today, come when you have the time.
Sincerely,
Ronald WeasleyHarry sighed as he put down the note, surprised to not be as happy as he thought he would finally hearing back from them. The box had a chocolate frog in it.
"What's wrong Potter?" Severus asked, looking over as he finished his breakfast.
Harry handed over the letter he read.
Severus took the parchment, reading the very messy script. "Well, they've invited you over I see."
"Yes but why did it take them an entire year to talk to me again?" Harry asked rhetorically, frowning.
"People tend to get lost in themselves, their personal lives, sounds like Weasley put all his attention into his wife, forgetting everything else. Wizard's can be very arrogant." Severus sneered at the horrible penmanship. "Looks like his hand writing hasn't improved either."
Harry smiled slightly at Severus's insults. "Should I go? Or should I turn it down?"
Severus shrugged, crumbling up the packaging from his delivery. "Do as you wish Potter, but if you do decide to go you can have the day off." He burned the packaging to cinders with his wand.
Harry didn't want to miss a day with Severus, but he missed Ron and Hermione. "But then I would be behind a day in the lesson plans, I have notes to write."
Severus admired Harry's work ethic. "Go see your friends today, and when you get back you can meet me tonight after dinner." He offered. "I will give you the class notes and a review of the lesson plan to go over."
Harry's face lit up. "Really?"
"7pm, bring a drink if you like." Severus stood up, taking his new book with him. "Go see your friends Potter it's fine with me, don't make it a habit during the week."
