"I will not fucking letting you out of my sight again."
Casio was dragging me away from the creepy guy, and I could hear my heartbeat every step we took. All I could do was bite the insides of my cheeks and hope Casio would calm down soon because right now... He's just enraged.
"Where are your friends?" I almost ran out of breath when we stopped walking. He looked back at me, with his brows all furrowed. I gulped.
"I-I got lost," my voice was small.
He sighed before dragging me again. I kept hearing him curse as we blended in with the crowd. I felt relieved when I realized we were on our way to Marga and Tope's cousin. We finally found them!
"Where were you?! Oh, God! We were so worried, Rafaela!"
Marga drew me away from Casio and wrapped her arms around me. "Rafaela, para akong nawalan ng anak!" She exclaimed after she let me go.
Casio was pissed. "Why did you even let her roam around all by herself?"
Marga furrowed her brows. "Wait, Casio?!" She was clearly taken aback when she realized it was Casio who had brought me to her.
"Dude, your girl's here."
We all turned to look at the only person on the couch. My eyes widened when I saw Tope. "Ito na ang kanina mo pa hinahanap! Saan ka ba nanggaling?" Wika ni Marga.
He was looking for me?
Imbis na sumagot, tumayo siya at saka naglakad papalayo. "Anong nangyari 'dun?" Sambit ni Marga.
Ako naman ay parang awtomatikong kinuha ang paper bag sa mesa na siyang regalo ko para sa kaniya at sumunod kaagad. "Tope!" I kept calling his name. He never stopped walking, though. Perhaps he couldn't hear me calling his name because the music was too loud.
Kung saan-saan kumusot at ganoon din ang sunod ko sa kaniya. Iilang tao na rin ang nabangga ko pero hindi pa rin ako tumigil sa paglalakad. Kagat-kagat ko ang aking labi nang dumarami na ang mga tao. Halos hindi ko na siya matanaw at ganoon na lang ang pag-panic ko nang mawala na nga siya nang tuluyan sa paningin ko.
"Tope!" I shouted for his name.
Ano ba itong nangyayari? Bakit parang iniiwasan niya ako? I know he was upset because I forgot it was his birthday. But he was looking for me earlier! When I wasn't with them, he looked for me. Kaya naisip kong baka hindi na siya nagtatampo. Pero heto kami ngayon... Naghahabulan at hindi ko na siya mahanap.
I couldn't count how many people I had already run into while looking for him. My jaw dropped as the paper bag suddenly slipped from my grasp and fell to the floor.
When someone stepped on it, I exclaimed, "No!" Yumuko ako at pilit na kinuha iyong bag pero nasisipa ng mga tao. Pati ako ay nasasaktan na rin dahil nasisipa na rin nila ako.
"Oh, no..." I kept mumbling when I saw the cassette tape.
As I tried not to cry, my eyes burned. But my tears began to fall down my cheeks. I still attempted to pick up the broken cassette tape, polaroids, and handwritten letter that are now dirty.
"Oh, damn."
Even though my vision was blurry, I still recognized his face. "C'mon, Raf. Tumayo na tayo," he said and held my arms.
