Chapter 12: PICTURE

" Why have you come back here?" Abie asked his mother.
" Nice question to the right person, I am here for unfinished business. Actually your father forgot and took this photo with him to our house. When I observed so clearly I noticed that Aleena was also in the picture. So what is bothering me is, where does she live, how is she related to this family and why did she come to attend my son's wedding?" She said.
" Why are you bothered by her appearance in the photograph?" I asked.
"You asking me this question has cleared all my doubts. I knew from the start that you are Aleena's daughter. You are not wise enough to fool me. You can easily fool others but not me.
Though you grew up and changed, your small birthmark in your back didn't disappear. That's why I was able to recognize you when you were leaving our house last time in a blouse that showed your back. 
When I learnt the truth, I tried to call off the wedding. I wanted something that would stop the wedding from happening and that's when I landed on your big secret. I must say you are so Cunning because you had already influenced my son into marrying you in secret. But I promise I won't let you step into my house as long as am still alive.
And Abie, your father doesn't know who this girl really is yet so it would be better if you come home and leave this girl over here or else I will be forced to tell your dad the truth. The choice is yours now." She threatened my husband.
"My decision is still the same mom, I am not going anywhere without Casie, my love." He said and I felt relieved. I thought he would be disappointed after knowing the truth but he wasn't. I still couldn't figure out why he wasn't bothered by the hot news about me.
Mrs. Magie left. Abie had planned to take me shopping but his mom ruined our mood and we cancelled the plan. This woman also!

Few days later, Abie suggested that we should go and buy our own apartment in the city but I didn't agree with him. I hoped that his family might come for him after they have thought a lot about the matter.
Two weeks later, Mr. John came and asked Abie to go home with him but still Abie refused that he won't go without me.

*** Mr. John***
"Why are you so stubborn my child. At first I thought you would change your mind and leave this lady here for your family but you showed me that I was wrong. Your love for her is stronger than your love for your family. 
You know you are my only son, my only child, how do you think I will live without you. I myself only know how life without you seemed like for the past two weeks. I couldn't smile because my reason to smile wasn't with me. Please come back home." He said.
" No dad, am sorry but I can't go with you. I made a promise to God on our wedding that I will protect my wife from any harm. I also promised to be with her for the rest of my life and I can't break my promises.
You are saying that am the reason for your smile but Casie here is my reason to live so how do you expect me to live without her by my side. I have been a good son to you dad and am sure you know that too. Can't you fulfill this one wish of mine. I only wish to be with Casie as my wife but if you are not willing to accept her as your daughter-in-law,  there is no point in going back home." He said.
