Chapter 15: AFTER BIRTH

Nine months later I gave birth to our first kid. It was a bouncing beautiful baby girl. I must say she was going to bring a change in my life but Mrs Magie didn't allow it to happen.
When I gave birth, that night itself, Mr John was convinced that I didn't marry his son for revenge. He came to me and apologized. I was still unconscious but I could hear everything he was saying to me.

***Mr John***
I feel ashamed of my actions towards you. I don't know if I deserve to be forgiven but I will still say sorry for everything I said and did to you.
I was influenced by my wife's words that you came here just for revenge. I chose to listen to her and ignored you yet you were innocent and am sure I hurt you a lot in the process.
Thank you for not giving up on my son. I know if you wanted revenge you wouldn't have accepted to give birth to a grand child of this family.
At first when the doctor told us you were pregnant, I never believed his words. I knew you had faked it as part of your revenge but I was wrong, you were pregnant for real. No one cared for you during your pregnancy because I could fix Abie with a lot of work to occupy his attention and leave you all alone home when you needed him the most.
I agree I didn't become a good father-in-law to you but I promise I will be the best grandpa to my granddaughter.
I am not saying all this to convince you to forgive me. You will only forgive me when you feel that I deserve it. I will take your leave dear.

After some time, Mrs Magie came in too.

I am very sure you can hear me. I overheard what your father- in-law said to you earlier but I won't allow that to happen no matter what happens so don't think you have defeated me by winning everyone to your side.
You don't know what am capable of doing when it comes to my happiness. I can't spare anyone who tries to come my way and am sure you know that. I am sure you and your mom know the truth about me but I still don't understand why you chose to come back to this city and that too to my house?
I made you work more like a maid but still you didn't complain nor did you give up. What do you want, my husband's property? What?
Anyway, whatever it is I won't let you succeed in your mission.
This baby is the reason why my husband has turned to your side and it means if this baby dies, there is a possibility that my husband would fall in my trap again.
It would be best for you if you refuse the surprise he is planning for you or else you might lose your child because of your stupid acting.
And don't try to act smart with me as am far away smarter than you. I don't have any love for kids in my heart, maybe that's why God never blessed me with one.

Though I was still unconscious, I forced myself to reach for my daughter but I fell from my bed and didn't see what happened next.
Few hours later, I opened my eyes, the first person I saw was my husband Abie but my heart and mind were on someone else, my child. I thought that maybe Mrs Magie has killed her.
" Abie, our daughter." I breathed.
" Yes wife, our daughter is here healthy and bouncing. Thanks for giving me another title. I feel happy that am someone's dad from today onwards." Abie said.
