Meanwhile...

"Call Ended. Terminating feed. Location is room 402, 4th floor." an AI voice notified.

As much of an oaf that Damian thought he wasn't, there were still cars ahead of him.

Sat downstairs at the very hotel where the interrogations were held, Jacobs managed to intercept Damian's call thanks to his personal assistant Faye, though he refused to recognize it.

"And they say prison guards never had any perks. I knew this thing would come in handy. Thanks, computer thingamajig!" Jacobs quipped, looking at his UI currently showing a telephone interception application.

"I'm right here, sir," Faye interjected.

"Of course. I'm aware, Faye. Thank you." Jacobs replied in a snarky manner.

"Hmmph." Faye scoffed.

"Don't make me press the power button," Jacobs remarked.

"You wouldn't." Faye retorted.

"I will if you're gonna be like that," Jacobs warned.

Jacobs paused, allowing Faye a moment to counter.

"That's what I thought," Jacobs said.

Faye fell completely silent. Jacobs' frustration slowly shifted to regret.

"...agh... I'm... sorry." Jacobs apologized.

"It's okay," Faye said.

"It's been a tough couple of weeks," Jacobs added.

"I'm detecting an increase in RPM. Are you alright?" Faye said.

"It's just... I can't get over this silly Jarred thing." Jacobs admitted, sighing.

"And you feel you must deflect those feelings toward me?" Faye asked.

Jacobs stopped in his spot for a moment, attempting to process what Faye said.

"What?" Jacobs asked.

"It was a genuine question, sir," Faye said.

"It... it's not that. The stupid lemon dragged me into this mess only to leave me behind... to leave with his boss, who he hates! What was his intention? Did he and his boss take me so they could send a message? Assert dominance, perhaps?" Jacobs monologued.

"I believe they took you because-" Faye began.

"I didn't want to be a part of this! I never did. They took me away from my friends, my family... and for what? Where we're sat right now, I could just as easily switch sides..." Jacobs continued.

He pondered for a moment before quickly coming to a conclusion.

"Hey... yeah. What if I did change sides?" Jacobs thought.

"Do you require an answer or are you going to continue this trend of rhetorical questioning?" Faye asked.

"Maybe I will change sides! What about that, Jarred?!" Jacobs said, ignoring Faye.

"He's not present, sir." Faye reminded.

"Then make it happen. You're smart. Teleport him here, for all I care!" Jacobs exclaimed.

"Not only does teleportation not exist, but I also do not have the required programming to do that on the spot," Faye remarked.

"What do I have you for, then? To sit around and mope?!" Jacobs exclaimed.
