Meanwhile...

Beep...

Beep...

Beep...

The faint sound of a pulse oximeter slowly entered Dash's hearing as he awoke. He hadn't a clue where he was, or what was happening until he recognized that faint sound...

Beep...

Beep...

Beep...

"His eyes are opening. He's awake, Doctor." A nurse assured.

The doctor slowly rolled over as to not startle the awakening racer.

"Pulse rate is normal, revs per minute normal... he's coming back." the nurse notified.

"Agh... w-where am I?" Dash asked.

"Shh-shh... relax." the doctor comforted, keeping a keen eye on him.

"Should we apply the sedative before he moves, Doctor?" the nurse advised.

"Wait a little longer." the doctor affirmed.

"But what about last time?" the nurse reminded.

"Just wait." the doctor reaffirmed.

Dash's vision gradually cleared, squinting as the bright white lights shone brighter and brighter.

"You can keep your eyes shut, son. The lights may be quite bright for a while." the doctor said.

"W-what's happening? What's going on?" Dash asked dozily.

"Just stay relaxed. There's no reason for concern. You're in safe tires." the doctor said.

As soon as those four words were heard, Dash knew exactly where he was and what was happening.

"Oh, no... no-no-no..." Dash said, instantly waking from his relative slumber and panicking.

"Please, hold still as we administer sedative." the doctor requested.

"No... n-n-n-n-no." Dash realized, beginning to shuffle erratically.

The doctor gently pushed Dash down and held a tire on his hood before he could move any more.

"Damnit... no!" Dash exclaimed.

"Nurse, please administer the sedative whilst I hold him still." the doctor requested.

"But Doctor, I think it would be wise to avoid sedative after he just awoke?" the nurse reminded.

"Sedative, please." the doctor affirmed.

"But, Doctor." the nurse disputed.

"Sedative-" the doctor reaffirmed.

THWACK!

Dash angrily slapped the Doctor's tire aside, revving his engine loudly and grinding his teeth ready to escape.

"Mr. Boltarius, don't try anything! We've got mitigations in place since your last departure." the doctor said.

"Where the hell is my wife? Why the hell am I back here?!" Dash yelled.

"You fainted. Your personal doctor at the county jail admitted you here for the remainder of your sentence and recovery." the doctor notified.

"...what?" Dash calmed, confused.

"That's right. You'll be staying here, in this room, until we give you clearance." the doctor affirmed.
