Paper Plastic Wings

When I was younger I used to be fascinated by paper
How you can defile it with many colors or how you can cut it up and form it into what you want
what you dream of

I went from creating images I believed were visions
to cutting paper plastic wings of
empty water bottles and construction paper
I believed they would fly me to the moon and bring the peace I so desired

To leave this world with my paper wings that will be dampened
by the rain
set on fire by the sun's rays
and crumbled by the non-believers
believing my childish dreams will
Harm the future I see before me
yet it is out of touch
Out of reach

my paper wings could take me there
Paper plastic
Plastic paper
Both desinigrate after wrapping me
and taking me to the stars
Far from here
Where I don't belong

Lord
My paper plastic wings
Have taken me farther
Than the dreams
In which turned to nightmares
Instead of flying I was falling
These paper plastic wings
Taken me farther than
Any soul ever could
