"Is it okay if I go home tomorrow?" Paige asked from behind the kitchen counter and I clenched my jaw.

"Sure." Rio said stiffly. Fucking idiot, why is he always agreeing to shit he doesn't like? Pussy.

"Why?" I asked and she frowned at me.

"Because I have a life Luciano." She snapped. "I have a job, a family and friends that I need to support." She added.

"And us?" I asked and she frowned.

"What about you? I literally spent more than a week with you. Me going home doesn't change a thing between us." She said softly.

"Fuck your job. That shit changes everything." I said and Dario glared at me.

"She's not an object." He said and I glared at him.

"I didn't say that. We can fucking buy her, her own company. Why do you have to make things hard for yourself?" I asked her and she glared at me.

"I'm not a charity case. And I don't want more of your money. And I like my job, it reminds me of who I am." She said angrily.

"That's not who you are though." I told her and Rio shot me a warning look.

"I'm an ordinary girl. I work two jobs and barely get by. But that's okay because it keeps me sain. It keeps me from thinking the worst about my dad's condition." She said before leaving the room.

"Well done, mano." Rio said before going after Paige and I scoffed. All I want is to treat her like a queen.

She can start her own fucking business. I don't even want credit for helping her, I just want her to be independent when we're gone, which could be at any moment because we have so many fucking enemies, she'll have her own empire.

But Dario always knows best.

I poured myself a glass of whiskey and watched Paige coming downstairs with Rio. She hugged him before looking at me but I stayed in my spot.

A tear escaped her eye and I frowned but I didn't move. Neither did she.

"I'll see you on Sunday." She said softly before leaving the house.

"Luciano what is wrong with you?" Rio asked and I glared at him.

"Don't fucking start." I said shortly.

"Why not?" He asked.

"You want her to be fucking dependent on us." I told him and he scoffed.

"What's so wrong with that?" He asked and I grabbed the bottle of whiskey before stepping in front of him.

"You're not gonna manipulate her." I told him and he shook his head.

"I just want to protect her." He said blankly.

"From what? Being successful?" I asked and he looked at the ceiling.

"From changing. From becoming someone else. Money changes people, look at what it did to you." He said and I raised my fist at him.

"Look what it did to you." I snarled at him. "I don't even recognize you anymore." I said in disgust before going outside to the pool.

This is why I just want to be left alone. But I have a twin, which apparently means I'm never alone.

It still doesn't change the fact that I've always wanted to be on my own. But Paige just had to come and turn my world upside down.

I think I'm in love with her.
