It is now October. And that means a new year at Duel Academy. The Slifers, Jaden, Haru and Syrus passed their Promotion Exams and graduated to the second year.
Crowler: Will you hurry up? We'll be late to greet the new students! Crowler shouted to the man behind him, a short pudgy man.
Bonaparte: Easy for you to say, you have longer legs! And why are you so excited to greet the new students, Temporary Chancellor Crowler?
Crowler: Temporary? Must you stress that word?
Bonaparte: Well you are acting as Chancellor while Chancellor Sheppard's away.
Crowler: Oh please. If I'm able to increase Duel Academy's reputation, then I just might keep being Chancellor, don't you think?
Bonaparte: I think the word "Impossible" is not in my dictionary, but that is certainly impossible!
Crowler: Well, I'll just have to show you. He said pulling out a magazine.
Bonaparte: Show me what?
Crowler: Just the top duelist in the Pro-Dueling League! The young up and coming champion, Aster Phoenix! It's been decided that he'll be attending the Academy.
Bonaparte: That is good! But, he's already a professional duelist, right? So why?
Crowler: Hmm, it must because I was placed in charge. Crowler hummed. Just then, the new students started getting off the boat. They excited as well as nervous.
Welcome to Duel Academy, students! He greeted.
Bonaparte: We're glad to see you arrived.
Jaden: Yeah! Jaden cheered. Give it everything you got, Haru. You too, freshman! Haru'll teach you the ropes.
Dorothy: Jaden sure is cheery, isn't he?
Syrus: Yeah. He's already turning into a big shot. Syrus said.
Aster: I look forward to this.
Haru: Same here. 'Hmm. Something feels off about this guy.' Haru thought.
Haru & Aster: Duel!

(Aster: LP: 4000)
Haru: Alright, just take it slow and easy. Think calmly and play your cards right.
Aster: Sure.
Alexis: Is Haru dueling a freshman? Alexis and Chazx showed up.
Chazz: Who is that guy?
Syrus: Well, uh, you see, it was a while ago...
A few minutes ago, back in the Slifer dorm, the trio were greeted by Aster.
Aster: Please to meet you. Call me Aster. I wanted to have a duel with my two seniors, Jaden and Haru, so I came here.
Present time
Syrus: Or that's what he said. And then Haru kinda challenged him first.
Chazz: Aster? He's got nerve picking a fight with Haru.
Alexis: Well, it's not a fight.
Syrus: But, I feel like I saw him somewhere before. Syrus thought.
Chazz: That guy wasn't here in the middle school division.
Syrus: Maybe he was admitted through recommendation.
Dorothy: It's starting!
Aster: Draw!
