Chase just had to show up here, didn't he?
I wasn't going to let him bother Scarlet, though.
I wasn't going to let him bother my girl.
She wasn't his anymore.
Chase and the girl who he had brought with him went to a table and sat down together. They were on the opposite side of the restaurant to us.
That was definitely a good thing. Out of sight, out of mind was a real thing, after all.
"God, maybe I should go. I don't want something to start," Scarlet said.
I squeezed her shpulder reassuringly.
"Baby, nothing is going to happen. Stick with me," I said.
Her gaze met my own and her eyes warmed, then, returning to that honey colour I had grown to love so much.
"Wait," Milly said, as she looked between the two of us then. "Is something going on here that I have not been informed of?"
I released a soft laugh.
"Scarlet and I kissed," I admitted.
We also loved each other, in the non-platonic sense, but that was something I could bring up with her later.
Milly's eyes widened.
"That's so fuckin' cool, Destiny! Oh my god, I'm so happy for you," she said.
I grinned at her, then.
"Thank you, Mill," I replied.
She nodded.
"You're most welcome. You're a lucky girl, Scarlet. Take care of this one," she said.
Scarlet turned to me and smiled.
"I will," she said. "I was always worried I wouldn't find that kind of love, but then I realised I didn't have to look any further. All I ever needed was right in front of me," Scarlet said.
I felt my heart quicken inside my chest again.
She was such a romantic.
Perhaps my heart wasn't quite as much of a block of coal as I had once thought it was.
"I don't ever want to be away from her," she said. She blinked a little, as if realising what she was saying. "Alcohol makes me say too much."
"Alcohol is making you say just the right amount," I replied, with a shrug.
The three of us finished off our meals and I got the bill.
Once we had left the restaurant, I pulled Milly into a hug.
"I'm sure we'll see you again soon," I told her, with a kind smile.
I really hoped that I would have passed my driving test by the next time the two of us met up with each other.
Milly walked her separate way home and I turned back to Scarlet.
"You okay?" I asked her.
I knew being around lots of people could sometimes be too much for Scarlet.
"I feel comfortable with your friends," she said. "I never really felt comfortable around Chase and his friends but-"
"You belong with us, sweetheart," I assured her.
She was wanted with us.
I hoped she knew that. I was going to make sure how much she was wanted around. She deserved to know that she made the world a brighter place, especially to me. She was important. She forever would be important.
I reached out to gently caress Scarlet's cheek.
Her eyes instinctively fluttered closed at the innocent touch.
I held my arms out and she came to rest my head against my chest, as we embraced.
We needed to get home. I needed to kiss her again.
"Ready to head home?" I asked her and Scarlet nodded in answer.
The two of us walked hand in hand back home and returned to my room.
Once I had shut the door behind us, Scarlet turned to me and began to place kisses upon my mouth, jaw and neck, as if she couldn't get enough.
I could understand that much, of course. I wasn't sure I could ever get enough of her, either.
She was addicting.
Pushing her into the wall, I reclaimed her mouth with my own.
She sighed softly, as I continued to kiss her. I eventually moved to her neck and gently sucked upon the skin there.
"Dest," she breathed.
I pulled back and met her gaze with an expression of curiosity.
"I want this," she admitted. "But I need some time."
I nodded in understanding.
"Of course," I said. "We don't have to rush anything. Whenever you're ready," I told her with a sincere smile.
I never wanted to make her feel pressured. We would go at our own pace. That was the best way to go.
Ultimately, I wanted her too, but I was an adult. I could wait. I was patient.
"Dest," Scarlet said, as she started to get ready for bed.
I turned back to her.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"I want to be your girlfriend. I really want that. I want to be yours."
"And I want you to be mine," I said. "Will you be my girlfriend, Scarlet?"
She rushed over to me and pressed her lips against my own again.
"I love you. Of course, I will."
"I love you too, my beautiful girl," I said.
Scarlet got out her phone and took a photo of her kissing my cheek.
She was so damn cute.
"Send that to me. I want to make it my lock screen," I told her.
At that comment, Scarlet beamed at me.
"Sure," she said and quickly sent the photo over to me.
I made it my lock screen.
Scarlet was my girlfriend. This wasn't a dream. This was real. She was real. She was my real, beautiful girlfriend and we were together, now.
I brought her close to me, so I could kiss her again and we moved over to fall upon the bed, so we could cuddle up.
"Goodnight, Dest," she said warmly, as she nestled into my chest.
"Goodnight, sweetheart," I replied and pressed a gentle kiss against her forehead.
We lay there for a little while longer, until we soon drifted to sleep.
