I honestly felt as though I was floating in some other atmosphere. This was crazy, but it also felt so right. Destiny was my girlfriend, and I was hers. I felt as though I was going to wake up at any moment, but we were here together, and this was real. I loved her. I never even thought I could experience a love like this before her, but everything with Destiny felt new. It felt right. It felt peaceful and comfortable. We were good together. I didn't feel so scared of being unloved anymore because I could trust Destiny. She was there for me, and I was there for her. I wasn't going anywhere.

"For so long I thought I couldn't have you," Destiny said.

The two of us were sitting in her room, relaxing, and Destiny was drawing again.

She was so talented. It honestly took my breath away.

"I thought you were like that last cookie in the cookie jar, placed on a really high shelf. I could never reach you but..."

"That's simple, you just throw a ball at the jar enough so that it falls off the shelf."

"Wouldn't I then get glass in my cookie?" Destiny asked, causing the both of us to laugh.

"You have me. I'm here. I'm yours," I said. "For as long as you want me," I added.

Destiny shook her head, as the corners of her lips lifted upwards in a small smile again.

"I'll always want you, Scarlet," she said softly.

I walked over to her and pressed my lips to hers, so I could taste her berry lip-gloss again.

Destiny's expression softened for a moment, but then her eyebrows knitted together in worry.

"What's wrong?" I asked instantly.

She looked up at me through dark lashes and sighed.

"I have that driving test today," she admitted.

"Oh," I spoke. "Destiny, you've got this. You're going to do amazingly," I said.

Destiny gave a small nod, but she looked unconvinced.

"I could do better," she said. "Than last time...I just don't know if it will be enough to pass."

"You have to believe in yourself," I said. "God knows I do."

I would always believe in her.

Destiny was incredible.

She worked hard. She was so talented. She honestly left me in awe.

"I'm going to try my best, Scarlet. Thank you," she said.

"Always," I replied, with a warm smile.

Destiny's forehead creased, as she looked towards the clock.

"I better get going," she said.

"Get out there, Dest, and good luck," I replied. "You can do this."

Destiny soon left her room and I soon heard the front door close behind her.

I made my way downstairs to find Lola sat watching television in the living room.

"Oh, hey," I said.

"How are things going?" she asked.

"They're going good," I started and then checked myself, "Well, I mean. They're going well."

"You know, you and Destiny are a really cute couple," she said.

I felt my eyes grow a fraction larger in my surprise, then.

"Oh, Phil let me know," she explained.

I nodded in understanding.

Of course, the two of them would talk about a lot of things. They were together now, after all.

At least, it seemed to be heading in that direction, anyway.

I just hoped it didn't cause Destiny too much upset.

I could only imagine how hard it was to lose a parent.

Of course, my own parents didn't talk to me anymore. Not really.

I still needed to speak with my own father, but losing a parent permanently was a lot different than them walking out of your life.

Well, it was simply different.

It wouldn't be easy for Destiny to see her dad with a different woman, but I supposed if she knew how happy he was, that would help her to accept it.

I looked towards the message my dad had sent me a few weeks ago and swallowed hard before I thought about how I was going to reply.

When I had thought of the message that I wanted to type back, I hit send.

We were going to meet at a local café.

My dad was in the city for work, apparently, so it wasn't going to take long for him to meet me there.

I let Lola know that I was going out and then made my way to the café to find he was already sat at a table in the corner when I arrived.

The devil works fast but my father works faster, apparently.

Although, in the past, I had honestly considered them one and the same.

"Hello," I spoke, as I reached his table.

He stood up and composed his face, so it became his familiarly unreadable expression.

I hadn't spoken to my parents in over five years.

This was weird.

It honestly felt as though it had been longer.

"Hi, Scarlet," he greeted me. "I wanted to come and see you because your aunt died."

The aunt who had also made my life hell?

Why did I need to know about this?

"I came to tell you because, well, she wrote you in her will. You know your uncle had a lot of money that he left to her. She left us some. You have ten thousand pounds in your name," he said.

I had what?

"That's not only why I'm here, though," he said. "I wanted to apologise for everything. Your mother and I are going through a separation right now and... I thought you should know. I wished everything could have been different," he continued.

He may have wished everything could have been different, but it was not.

Nothing changed.

"Thanks for speaking to me," I said. "But I'm okay."

"I'm glad," he said, "If there's anything I can do...you have my number," he continued.

"Yeah. Where did you find mine, by the way?" I asked.

"On your Facebook," he replied.

Damn it. I was going to have to make that account private.

"I didn't know how else to reach out to you," he said. The wrinkles on his forehead became more pronounced, as he frowned.

"I'll keep it in mind," I said simply. "But I should head home, now, dad. Speak later?"

"Speak later," he replied.

I would have hugged him, but things were still pretty awkward right now. Perhaps with time...

I stood up from the table and said goodbye to my dad, before I made my way back home.
