CW: blood, mentions of neglective parents and being disowned
As soon as they got home, Janus carried Virgil to their room. This time they held him bridal style to not hurt his ribs anymore, though he still curled up against the shifter and fought down whines of pain. Roman got him some water, and Janus still had some leftover pain medicine so they gave him a pill. He soon ended up falling asleep, Janus's bed much more comfortable than the hospital bed.
Roman was able to get a good grasp of the injuries. The worst of it really was his wing and side... the bruising was worse than Janus's was. The scales on his wing had to be removed for the stitches. But it's going to heal, Virgil will be okay.
His belongings were set down on the opposite side of the bed. His clothes, though they were splattered with blood, a wallet, and his phone. They made sure it was turned off, it was.
One thing Roman wanted to know was where was Virgil found? Was he found in the wreckage? Or did he really escape? He was clearly in a fight, so what happened?
"We're gonna need to find a new house soon," Remus said. The three of them went to Roman's room to talk. "We don't have enough room for everyone."
"I can just sleep on the couch," Janus said. "Or change into an animal. Probably a snake, that's my favorite form."
Roman had pulled out his necklace from under his shirt, rubbing his thumb against the steam of the rose. "Janus, you know Virgil best. Will he be okay?"
The vulnerability had caught the two off guard. Janus glanced at Remus, who was starting to look concerned for his brother.
"I don't know what happened to him," Janus started. "But Virgil's strong. He's been through a lot, but he finds ways of coping. And then he gets back up on his feet when he's ready. Just give him some time, I don't think Black has broken him yet."
Roman nodded in understanding. "Alright. Did... did he ever tell you about his sister, Anna?"
"All I know is that they were close. Why?"
"Black is trying to kill her. That's what he's been holding against Virgil."
Janus's eyes opened. "How do you know?"
"Virgil told me, and I had promised him to keep her safe."
"Why didn't he tell me? I could have helped him!"
"How? Because we really need that help now."
"Daffodil hasn't reached us yet," Remus added. "She should be looking for Anna right now."
"I have a feeling Anna wouldn't want to stay at that hospital since her brother just disappeared. Not to mention that fight you guys had in the parking lot. What was that about?"
"I saw one of the guys had a gun, and I had a feeling they were from Wolfsbane. I was right... and they were there for Virgil. Black knows he's alive."
"There were probably some people from Wolfsbane placed there," Roman said. "We have some people at our hospital, to make it safer."
"If there are people at the hospital, why send people to kill him?" Janus asked.
"They weren't there to kill him, they were there to kidnap him," Remus said. "Black wants him alive."
"So he still wants Virgil. That's not too comforting, but better than dead."
Roman felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He pulled it out to see a text from Sal. "Dammit, she can't find Anna at the hospital. And the police have arrived so she couldn't stay."
