Dumaga reasoned that the kiss was serious because Nedu made it sound that way so she told him that the best thing was to tell Ije before she found out on her own.
Nedu was scared, there was no way ije wouldn't rant over the fact that Paula kissed him, he feared what her reaction would be but he promised Dumaga that he would do so.
On getting home, he finally decided to see what it was that Paula bought for him. It was a small bag that she left, he opened it curiously and found two maternity gowns lying on top with a hasty inscription, Ijeoma.
He found two jean trousers for himself and smart looking t-shirts about four in number.
Then he found a letter addressed to him from Paula, he opened it and began to read:
Chinedu Nwosu! One of the best, the only man that treated me well, I'm sorry we couldn't work, I'm sorry for my bad behaviours that led to you leaving me.
I'm happy that you are married and very soon, your first child would be born, what a proud father you would be.
But I also want to tell you that I miss you and I wouldn't hesitate if you give me a second chance.... I mean, it doesn't matter that you are married, at least... Be the father of my children, let me have a piece of you....
He stopped reading, he was angry, he folded the paper roughly and tossed it to the side.
"She's a mad, shameless idiot!" He spat with anger. He picked the clothes she had bought together with the bag and disposed them in the trashcan.
Sinachi was shocked to see new clothes with labels still on them enter into the trashcan that had all manner of dirt in it.
"Sir?"
He turned to her. "Do not mention a word of this to your madam, not even about the evil woman that came here"
"Yes sir" she replied shakily.
It was nearly noon when he went to work and he worked until it was late forgetting his promise to visit Ije at the hospital.

Anulika walked out of the ward almost colliding with Nedu. "My goodness, what a fright!" She chuckled. He forced a smile. "You came to see Ije"
She nodded then whispered. "I think she's mad at you"
He mentally slapped himself. "I guessed as much.... How's our baby doing?" He asked tugging at the cheeks of the child in Anulika's arms.
"She's good" Anulika replied with a smile.
"Okay, let me see Ije"
"Alright, I'm heading to work now"
"Okay"
She walked away and he turned the door knob and poked his head in, Ije was sitting on a chair pressing her phone, she looked up when she heard the door open. Without acknowledging him, she lowered her eyes back to her phone.
"Hey" he said letting his body in.
She ignored him totally.
"I'm sorry about yesterday, It was quite busy for me and it slipped my mind"
She rolled her eyes. "And you couldn't call?"
He bowed his head. "I forgot"
She hissed.
He tapped his feet on the ground. "How are you?"
"I'm fine" she dropped her phone and folded her arms. "I don't know you as someone who forgets.... Me"
"Ije, don't make me feel too guilty, I said I'm sorry"
"I'm being honest here... You've not for once forgotten something about me"
His shoulders sagged and he sighed. "What will I do to make you forgive me?"
She stood up and walked up to him, taking his arms. "Tell me what is bothering you"
He stared at her and she returned the stare sharply. "I can see it in your eyes, Nedu, you are seriously bothered"
Nedu blinked. In his eyes?
Ije sighed and reluctantly hugged him. "I missed you"
He relaxed and slowly hugged her back. When they finally released each other, Ije went back to her seat.
"They said I shouldn't have carbohydrates"
He nearly chuckled grateful that she had dropped the subject.
"Well, that applies to all pregnant women right?" He asked.
"I can't have meat either" she whined.
"They don't mean that" Nedu pretended to frown.
Ije pouted. "He was damn serious, carbohydrates, meat!" She pulled her cheeks. "I can't have chicken!"
"You will be shocked how the months would fly"
"That doesn't make me feel better, it's almost a year, just three months difference". She pouted further and Nedu burst into laughter.
"You are so funny"
"My problems are funny?" She feigned annoyance looking away from him.
He moved closer to her with a smirk and tickled her, she burst into laughter, kicking and turning, tears rushed to her eyes. "Nedu, please stop" she begged amidst laughter.
Nedu released her. "You don't have problems, Ije"
She smiled. "Okay, fine... So how's the house?"
"It's good" he replied. "Just a bit empty without you"
She blushed. "I hope Sinachi is feeding you well".
"Not better than you would"
She rolled her eyes knowing that he was hyping her and he chuckled.
"I bought some drinks for you" he told her.
She grinned. "You just know exactly what I want, they are in the car, right?"
"Yes, let me get them"
She got up. "I'll walk with you"
He smiled and they walked towards the car together.
Sorry for the short and uneventful chapter, the following chapters would be better, I promise.
