Neche stood at the police counter talking to the officer.
"I put her and my son to sleep and entered to sleep too.... Barely an hour after I retired, I heard the banging of my door.... I woke up to see the sitting room door open and the baby girl was gone"
"But the boy remained there?"
"Yes" Neche scratched her head.
"How old is the child?"
"Five days old" she replied and the police man stared at her in horror.
"Are the children twins?"
"No, the circumstances of the child's birth is quite complicated..... I'm not the mother"
"The mother dumped her"
"No sir... She's fighting for her life"
"What's your name?"
"Chinecherem..."
"Neche!" Nedu called, he was holding his car keys as he entered.
"That's the father of the child" Neche pointed out.
"What the hell happened?" Nedu asked.

"You've got to be kidding me.... Binye is missing?" Dumaga hissed in anger.
"It will not pass Paula" Anulika spat as she put a spoon of pap into her daughter's mouth.
They were at Nedu's house waiting for a reply from the police. Nedu was making a call.
"Joelle, I think Paula just carried my child"
"I'm sorry Nedu, I don't think I can be of any help, she has refused to speak to me"
"Shit!" Nedu cursed stomping his feet.
"Okay, calm down.... I'll send you her two house addresses....."
"She has two houses?"
"Apparently... Yes, as I was saying, you will have to be extra careful because she's ready to kill you now seeing you don't want to bulge"
"What are the locations of the house?"
"Ajegunle and Lekki" Joelle replied. "I'll be at your house this evening" she added.
"This kin' stupid police sef" Junior remarked with a frown.
"Can you believe the idiot said there's no fuel today, they will start tomorrow?" Dumaga's husband told Nedu.
Nedu ignored them, his mind was somewhere else. He dialled a number again, it rang but the owner didn't pick up, he tried it the second time.
"Hello hubby!"
"Paula, I swear I'll kill you if you hurt my daughter"
She feigned a gasp. "Am I that predictable?"
"Don't play with me, where are you?"
"If you are not coming here to kiss and hold me as your own then don't bother coming, I just took a piece of you to remind me of the man who didn't love me back"
"Paula we can negotiate this"
"Negotiate?" She burst into laughter. "JP doesn't negotiate"
The line went dead and Nedu's phone dropped from his hands.
