Nedu opened the door to his house and saw Ije standing at the door with her hands on her waist. "You didn't take long"

"Mhm" he exhaled.

She stared at Lotanna who stood beside him. "You didn't bring your brother to speak to me this time, did you?"

Nedu chuckled. "I got you ice cream"

She folded her arms as a smile crept up her face. "Bro Lotanna, you know this is a couples thing right? So you should probably be on your way....."

"Oh yes" he smirked. "I'll see you later, Nedu"

He turned and left.

Ije sighed. "I'm sorry"

"I'm sorry too... For hiding things from you"

"It's okay... You have a good way of making me feel so guilty.... Like I actually said I hated you and all you could say is you love me"

Nedu laughed. "Because I do na, won't you take the ice cream, I bought for you?"

"We will take it together" Ije chuckled.

"And I'll explain....."

"You have a lot of explanation to do" Ije interrupted.

A groan, then a belch.

Nedu stirred on his bed, Ije let out a stifled scream before she belched loudly and sprang up sharply to vomit.

"Ije!" He exclaimed.

Ije's hands flew to her chest as she continued vomiting.

He rubbed her back slowly, he was getting used to seeing her vomiting and it irritated him a bit.

When she stopped, she was nearly breathless. "I want to speak to my mother"

"What?" He stared at her with unsteady eyes.

"I'm tired of hiding the pregnancy from her, I mean.... Eventually we will have to tell her, won't we?"

Nedu scratched his head. "Okay but keep the dying part away from her"

"Why? Your siblings know about it, don't they?"

He sighed. "Fine, say what you want to her but I don't want drama"

Ije hissed and stood up.

***
It was Sunday morning. Ije sat in the dinning over breakfast.

"Are you going to church?" Nedu asked.

Ije shook her head. "I feel weak"

"Should I stay with you or should I go to church?"

"Go to church! I don't need you"

He smirked. "You know you need me so much"

"Proud man!" She eyed him. "I don't want you to listen to my conversation with my mother"

"Fine, I'll be going"

"Won't you eat first?"

"I don't have appetite, keep lunch for me, okay?"

She nodded and turned back to her food while Nedu trudged upstairs to have a shower and get ready to go to church.

On his way to church, he was playing a song by Mercy Chinwo, a popular gospel musician.

He stopped the car at the gate of Saint Paul's church still nodding to the music, a few people had arrived meaning that he was early.

He remained in his car nodding to the music when someone knocked at his window and he looked up to see Paula.
