Dating Spider-Man wasn't easy, to say the least. There were a lot of nights you spent pacing your bedroom, wondering if he'd arrive safely. The worst nights were the ones when you could hear the battle in the distance. If something happened to him, and you couldn't say goodbye... You shuddered at the thought. No. He was fine.
Just then, a knock at the window made you jump. "Peter!" You hissed, opening it to let him crawl in. He collapsed onto your bed, a bruise already forming on his cheek. "That sucked," the boy said plainly. Nothing else. He never told you what happened, just if it was awesome or not. "Are you okay?" You asked, sitting next to him and inspecting the bruise on his cheek. He swatted your hand away. "Oh yeah, I'm fine. That was actually Flash on the way here."
You rolled your eyes. Of course it was. Peter was in his normal clothes, no sign of the suit. He must've stopped at home beforehand. "Moron," you finally said, playfully shoving his shoulder. Peter laughed and shoved back, a goofy smile on his face. That was one thing you loved about him- he always bounced back. No matter how bad a fight, when it was just the two of you, Peter had a smile. Honestly, it was why you fell in love with him.
You smiled at the memory, stirring your coffee. It had been five years since the Blip, and while you had moved on with your life, you couldn't forget about Peter Parker. Last you heard, he was headed to space, of all things. You didn't even know if he got snapped or... no. Peter wouldn't just die like that. He couldn't.
Lost in your thoughts, you didn't notice the commotion outside. People reappearing, right where they had disappeared before the Blip. Until someone ran inside. "They're back! They're all back!" You shot up, before remembering he wouldn't be on Earth anyway. Just great. Everyone got their person back, except you.
You spent the next week sulking. Your best friend, gone. And he still hadn't found you, so you just assumed the worst. Peter was probably dead.
A knock sounded at your window, and you nearly jumped out of your skin. There he was. Looked the same he did five years ago- so he had been Blipped. "Y/N?" He started anxiously when you opened the window. It was just as you remembered- Peter, hair a wreck, perched outside your window, eyes as brown as a basset hounds. "Peter?" You whispered, voice shaking. "I thought you died." His eyes widened and he flew into your arms, wrapping you in a hug. Even though you were now 21, he was still taller, engulfing you completely. "I'm so sorry Y/N," he cried, hugging tighter. You sank into his embrace, knees giving out. He slid to the ground with you, not letting go. "I'm so sorry," he repeated over and over.
When the two of you stopped crying, you pulled away, inspecting him closely. "You're older," he said, face falling. "Yeah..." you looked at the floor. You both knew what that meant. "Maybe when I'm older too, we can-"
You cut Peter off with a laugh. There he goes again, trying to find a solution immediately. You couldn't help it, you just kept laughing. It took a few minutes for you to calm down, and when you did, Peter was staring at you, confused. "Sorry, it's just- here I am, basically a brand new person, and there's something so funny to me about you still being the same old Peter," you giggled. He shook his head with a smile. "Always me," Pete said, grinning. "Always you. I'll wait. Let me know when you're like 2-, I'm not touching a brand new adult." He laughed at that, nodding. At the same time, just like you both had many times before, you each stuck out a pinky.
"Someday?"
"Someday."
It was a promise- when he was older, and you were both ready.
TEN YEARS LATER
Peter was laughing at something his friend had said. You had just rolled your eyes, taking a sip of your drink. It was his birthday, and everyone was celebrating at some random bar in town.
Since the pinky promise, things had happened. A lot. Everyone forgot who he was, even you. Peter found you again and did his best to explain. At the time, you found it hard to believe, but it made sense, you supposed. You'd made an agreement to restart the friendship that day, since you couldn't remember anything. And around the time he was 22, you had started to fall in love with him. When you told him, he laughed. "Pinky promise beats magic," he explained. It seemed so silly at the time, that you had laughed uncontrollably.
Since then, the two of you had moved in together. He was still Spider-Man, you worked full time at [Dream Job], and it worked for the two of you. Every Sunday night, he took you on a date. Life was good. It was truly baffling to you how Peter always seemed to bounce back.
Of course, that was the reason you fell in love with him for him in the first place.
Hey, sorry if that was shit. I just got my mojo back. Wassup guys.
