My head leans against the window while Dimitri drives the SUV down the highway. Apparently at some point last night it was decided we would ride down with Dimitri and Skylar. Frank was diving down with Aubree so she didn't have to do the drive alone, but would join us on the ride back. Luckily we were only going for one night and there wasn't a ton of luggage needed to transport.

Dimitri had rented a SUV with the extra row of seats in back. He also had one of those container attached to the hitch were most of the luggage was stored. Skylar and Dimitri were sitting up front. Lucan and Hunter were sitting in the bucket seats in the middle and I was sitting in the way back. Basically enjoying the fact, I was the odd man out.

Hunter hasn't stopped explaining to Lucan all the fun he had last night. I could barely muster the energy to smile at Hunter and Hunter being the child he is picked up on the fact I wasn't myself. After I had to have him repeat his questions to me he gave me some space leaving me the entire ride to reflect on the events of last night.

Jake took me to a fancy sit down restaurant and by the way he was flashing his money around he was trying to impress me, but was actually doing the opposite. His behavior was turning me off. He made demands of the staff instead of asking them for accommodations. By the way he was acting he was leading me to believe he was the owners and not a simple guest. Also the way they were reacting to him left me to wonder. Especially since I never asked him what he did for a living and he has yet to share the tidbit of information willingly.

The conversation lapsed into any normal first date, but there was no substance behind his words. Hell when I shared my last name the waiter conveniently approached our table and he never shared his. I had a hard time navigating him away from questions of my past because he would continuously return to them. So I tried to answer him with as little information at possible.

When the conversation turned to how I knew Lucan I became completely closed lip. No way was I sharing any insight into how Lucan and I knew each other. That information was too personal and none of Jake's business. Something about him and his questioning had me on edge and I had no desire to share anything about Hunter with him.

At the mention of Lucan's name my mind instantly drifted to wondering what he was up to with his date. Was she leaning in close to him and laughing at his every word? Was he kissing and touching her like how he touches and kisses me? Where they making plans for a second data? More than once Jake had to call my name to draw my thoughts away from wondering what Lucan was doing.

We were finishing up desert and Jake was trying to convince me to come home with him when I thought I saw Joe disappear down the hallway to the bathrooms. Making my excuses I followed the path he took, but when I entered the hall he was nowhere to be found. What I did find was a door leading out to the alley way. Yet, there wasn't a sole lingering outside.

Closing the door, I leaned against one of the walls debating if I should text Lucan of my worries. The thought of him not caring had me deciding against the notion. My heart couldn't handle the actual rejection compared to the unknown rejection.

While I was collecting me thoughts one of the waitresses approached me. She kept glancing over her shoulder as though she was fearful of being caught talking to me. The stranger stops before me and eyes me, but not with disdain with concern. I push off the wall confused by what I was seeing in her eyes. On closer inspection I could tell she was using make up to cover some bruises.

"Can I help you," I ask her.

She shakes her head and glances down the hall. "No, but I can help you. I overheard him call you Kinsley. Your name sounded familiar, but I couldn't place where I had heard it before. Not like your name is a common one. Then I remembered where I had heard it." I wait for her to elaborate, but she never does. Her voice was so shaky I could hardly understand her.
