Lucan's demand for Jake to leave his property carries clearly across the yard along with Jake's refusal till he has the opportunity to speak with me. They were in a standoff. Neither one wanting to follow the others demands and by their posture neither would be giving up any time soon. Poor Dimitri had position himself in the middle to prevent the two from coming to blows.
Sadly, the only wat to get Jake to leave would be for me to hear him out, but no way would I be going off alone with him. I learned my lesson about doing so from our date. Lucan notices my approach and draws Jake's attention to me by his glare.
"Kinsley I told you to wait in the car." Lucan seethes reaching for me and physically dragging me behind him. Jake watches us with narrowed us.
"I know but..." I start to say only to be cut off my Lucan.
"No but. I need you safe." Lucan states causing my heart to melt slightly, but I stiffen my back because he needs to understand he can't command me.
"I understand, but I've been taking care of myself for a long time and you need to trust me," I say so only he can hear. He must see the resolve in my eyes because he posture relaxes and he nods his head softly.
Lucan returns his attention to Jake. "You need to leave or I will call the police."
"Not till I have a chance to talk to Kinsley. She's been ignoring me all weekend and I have a right to know why." He eyes Lucan's protective posture in front of me and add, "but by the way you are blocking her I think I already have the answer to my question."
"Since you already have the answer to your question you can then leave," Lucan presses while tightly holding onto one of my hands.
Jake's eyes soften as he tries to get a glimpse of me standing behind Lucan. "I'd rather hear the answer directly from Kinsley."
"Lucan I owe him an answer. I did kind of lead him on by agreeing to go on a date with him." I remind Lucan gently and give his hand a slight squeeze. "You are standing out here with us. I'm not alone with him." Lucan relents and steps to the side so I can stand next to him.
"Jake I'm sorry," I start to say. "Remember when I told you my life was complicated, but you still pursued me anyways. Well some of the complicated parts became uncomplicated this weekend." I take a deep breath. "I've been in love with Lucan for a while and turns out he's in love with me too. I didn't mean to lead you on because at the time I really truly believed there was no hope for Lucan and me." I watch Jake closely trying to get a read on him, but he manages to keep his face carefully blank so I continue. "So he and I agreed to give us a try." I let my words trail off not having much more to say on the matter.
"After every fucking thing I've done this is how it pans out. Rocker boy tries to steal you from me. I don't fucking think so. I've put too much into making you mine and I'm not going to allow him to fuck everything up." Jake says too calmly. "He can have you for now, but soon you will be mine." Jake turns to Lucan. "Enjoy her body while you can Tayler because soon very soon she will be underneath me screaming my name."
Lucan balls his hands up in a fist and takes a tighter grip on my hand. His tighter grip informs him of my trembling body over Jake's words. Lucan glances at me with concern and I wrap my other hand around his arm. My eyes scream to him please don't. He kisses the top of my head and I watch Jake's face take on a new level of anger. At this point all I want is to get our family behind the secured locked door of Lucan's house.
"You've said your piece," Dimitri chimes in, "and I suggest you leave."
Jake runs his eyes once more over Lucan and me. "I'll leave, but Kinsley I'll be seeing you soon." We all stand there and watch Jake stride to his car across the street, gets in and drives away.
