"What happened?"
"Well I was in my physics class then suddenly we heard gun shots and he walked in the classroom."
"How did you get away?"
"There was a vent that led to the front the school."
"Let's go to my house."
"Jason, I'm graduating soon."
"That's great!"
"I'm going to college."
My heart sank.
What if she moves somewhere far?
"Where?"
"My parents wanted me to go to New York."
"Oh."
"I'm not going."
"Why?"
"Because I want to stay here."
"Maybe just a community college, or a university around here."
"Yeah. I'm not going to New York. I want to stay here with you."
I felt like I was holding her back.
I feel so dumb.
I don't want her losing great opportunities because of me.

Yes I am.
"Yes you are, what?"
"I said that out loud?"
"Yes you did."
"Oh I was just umm thinking and I thought out loud."
"What are you thinking about?"
"I don't wanna hold you back on opportunities."
"Jason, you're not holding me back. Im staying because I want to. Its my decision."
"I guess so."
"Alex said he thinks he knows who killed our parents." I added.
"So that's why we're going to your house?"
"Yeah, I'm sorry. I know you really wanna go out but you know."
"It's okay."
