Their Anguish My Satisfaction

Chapter One

"Mum I cleaned up your room, I did the dishes in fact I cleaned the house"
She said to her mum with joy in her eyes hoping that she impressed her mum

"I told you to do the laundry but clearly you haven't done it what is wrong with you? you are so stupid! Oh my goodness what did I do to deserve this thing called a child is it a punishment for something bad I did? my friends brag about their children but I can't do same because what is there to brag about?" her mum nagged ignoring the other things her daughter, Mia did

"Mum I'm so sorry I'll do it right away. Mum aren't you impressed that I cleaned the house?" Mia asked, the joy in her eyes now replaced with sadness

"you are such an embarrassment I mean how do you want me to be happy when you can't do a single thing right? I would have thrown you out of my house if I wasn't your mum"
her mum yelled then went to her room

"Why am I so stupid? why can't I do anything right for once just like my mates? I'm so dumb. But she should still have appreciated the ones I did right instead of focusing so much on the one I didn't do. I'm doing the laundry now but it doesn't matter because mum isn't happy with me."
She thought to herself while doing the laundry

That's how it has always been; Mia trying to impress her parents, make them proud and also make them love her more because she felt unloved but always ending up unsuccessful because sometimes she forgets to do something she is asked to do, sometimes she is forgetful but haven't you misplaced something at once or twice in your life? Mia kept on trying and trying to impress them but it was as if the more she tried the more they got angry at her. she'll always sit in her room and hear her parents and other siblings laughing and enjoying themselves but as soon as she joins them all her imperfections crawled out. First she does things slowly and she tends to forget things. Once she was preparing something to eat so she decided to join her family, watch a movie and also laugh with them but completely forgot about what she was preparing. Yes it got burnt which earned her harsh words from her parents and also led to her scolding herself and going to sit alone in her dark room to cry herself to sleep because like her dad said she always caused problems everywhere she went. Another time she misplaced the keys to her family's apartment which she and her other siblings plus her parents had to look for, it was actually under the table the whole time unknown to them all, They spent an hour looking for it. She again misplaced the keys according to her mum but she remembered giving the keys to her mum and argued that she didn't misplace them. Well of course no one believed her because according to her dad she was a forgetful person but she kept insisting that she gave it to her mum

"Why do I have a liar and a forgetful idiot as a child? why are you lying against me? I'm not forgetful like you. Others were getting princesses, beautiful princesses as children but I got an idiot as a daughter!" Her mother said dramatically as her husband, Mia's dad, Jack comforted her

"What kind of daughter are you? why do you always cause problems for us?" He yelled at Mia who was at this point trying really hard to hold back her tears. The keys were found but this time it was found in her Mum's purse. no one even bothered to apologize to Mia because she was 'a child' after all and she had no right to feel offended because they put a roof over her head, they were also taking good care of her. Her feelings didn't matter because she was only but a child that was what her mother thought.

She went to her room again and cried "what did I do to make my parents hate me so much? I know that sometimes I end up causing one problem or another but I do all the things that are supposed to keep them happy. Why am I so stupid? I bet if I die no one will even know or bother because who in his right senses will cry or look for their dead problem? they will rejoice, they'll celebrate my death because I know they hate me"
She said to herself then laughed as she continued to cry.

Things weren't any better in school because first she was one of the not so intelligent students and secondly she was always bullied. Anytime she reported her bullies to her teachers they always laughed at her and called her dumb. She stopped reporting them because according to the teacher 'dumb' students had no right to complain whenever they get bullied because they deserved it. She became so sad and depressed because they made fun of her in school and didn't like her at home but she kept believing that one day she would be the most brilliant student in her class not even those arrogant students who bully her and call themselves intelligent would be able to match her.

She was sitting in her house one day thinking of how stupid she was and how miserable her life was when one of her classmates came and said to her excitedly
"Mia you won't believe this but miss Bella said you got the best grade in class"

"Please get out if you've come to mock me I already know I am dumb and I'll always be at the bottom no matter how hard I try to reach the top" She said in a pathetic tone thinking he was making fun of her

"No seriously you know I'd never make fun of you she really said it I promise it's not a joke" He assured her

"Oh my God are you sure about this? how will I be the best in class? maybe it's not my results" She said still doubting that he was telling the truth

"It is your result Mia you have to believe in yourself anyways I'm going home. Bye" He said then left

"OMG! I hope this is true, mum will be so happy if it is" She said to herself with so much excitement

"Look at you, you are so stupid how can you even believe that your result was the best in class like how is that even possible?" The ugly demon in her head asked. "You are a loser and will always remain one." It added making Mia feel ashamed for believing what the boy told her.

Next day she went to school with her mum to collect her results when her Mum opened it she smiled
"Who knew your results could be this good?" She asked rhetorically.

Hearing this Mia became so happy and started dancing in her head
"Yes! finally mum is impressed and I didn't make any mistakes this time this is the happiest day of my life"
She thought to herself. Her dad was also pleased and rewarded her, she became popular in her school because now she was the best. She had written so many exams and managed to do even better than her previous results everything was going perfectly until the queen bee of the class came and sat next to her
"From now on you are going to do all my assignments and also allow me copy from you during test and exams if not you'll taste my bad side" Charlotte threatened with a smile.

One of Mia's weaknesses was that she didn't like saying no to people because she didn't like seeing them sad and disappointed even if they didn't care about her. She agreed and this was when everything changed again for her. Charlotte was became the best and Mia was back to being the dumbest student because she didn't have time to finish her assignment. One day they all took an individual quiz Mia's scores were the best, because Charlotte didn't sit with Mia she didn't do so well.
"What! I wasn't expecting to be the best wait is it because of Charlotte I have been failing?" She asked herself staring at her results. Charlotte on the other hand was so angry
"Look at her, happy because her result was the best. We all know you are nothing but a pathetic loser. I only let you pass this once so you won't kill yourself. You are useless and worthless." She said to Mia making everyone laugh. Mia had a really low self-esteem so she believed Charlotte but promised herself that she was never going to help her again to see if Charlotte will still remain the best student in class.
