Chapter 11

"Hey bro"
Jude greeted when Mia and James arrived at his place
"you must be Mia"
he said taking Mia's hand and planting a kiss on it
"yeah that's me?"
Mia blushed
"alright that's enough. Where's Joe?".
A jealous James asked.
"James you're here and you brought our princess"
Joe said emerging from the house
"Mia the name is Joe, nice to finally meet you"
"how did you...."
"know your name? Well our bro here can't stop talking about you and he always emphasizes on how beautiful you are so I figured this pretty lady standing next to him must be the one and only queen of his heart, Mia"
"you didn't have to expose our man James like that" Jude laughed
"so James always talks about me huh?"
Mia asked smiling coyly at James
"yes he does. You should see the look on his face when he's talking about you"
the two brothers laughed
"thank you so much for keeping that a secret. You totally didn't embarrass me in front of Mia, you guys are the best when it comes to keeping secrets"
James said sarcastically
"you are so nice. Thank you so much for complimenting us. It means a lot coming from you"
Joe said giving James a gentle pat on the shoulder and completely ignoring the sarcasm
"okay okay okay. Now you guys have seen my precious Mia I think it's time for us to leave"
James announced
"what! but we just got here"
Mia argued
"yeah, why do you want to leave so soon are you afraid we are going to tell Mia some of your embarrassing moments?"
Jude asked giving James an impish smile
"come on Mia let's go"
"bye guys hope I'll see you again soon"
"don't worry I and Joe will come visiting soon".
When they got home Mia was feeling tired so she decided to take a quick nap but she woke up to find Charlotte sitting on the couch with James
"James what is she doing here?"
Mia asked, green with envy
"oh Mia I don't know why you hate me so much. I know you are jealous of me because obviously I'm pretty and have a better life than you but please all that isn't my fault and I'm not sorry about that. Get to know me I promise you I can pity you and become your friend okay?"
Charlotte said with a fake smile
"oh so James you're friends with this arrogant piece of shit now?" "no Mia I-I can explain it's...."
James tried explaining but was cut off by Charlotte
"James no need for that. I'll tell her myself. Mia I don't even know what you're doing in my mans house are you trying to seduce him now or what?. Well there won't be any need for that because this lady speaking to you right now is carrying his child"
Charlotte announced rubbing her belly.
"wh-what! James is there....I mean what is she talking about?"
Mia asked feeling betrayed
"James why aren't you saying anything? Tell her we are having a baby"
"Charlotte just shut up!"
"oh no problem my dear. As for you Mia I'll be moving in with my baby's daddy soon so you better move out before I move in or maybe you'd want to become our maid? You won't understand but being pregnant isn't easy. I'll need someone to run errands for me when my darling isn't home. Anyways bye guys"
Charlotte laughed then left
"James what sort of insult is this? why did you have to do this to me? why James?" Mia asked with tears in her eyes
"Mia I'm sorry I didn't know things would turnout this way. It was all a mistake"
James begged moving closer to Mia
"a mistake? are you serious right now? but you enjoyed every moment of that mistake while you were making it right?"
Mia asked stepping away from James
"no Mia I already told you how it happened. I was drunk and she took advantage of that. I explained everything to you Mia I swear I didn't intentionally do it"
"so you did sleep with her. You got her pregnant after all. For a moment I thought you felt something for me but I guess I was totally wrong"
Mia said wiping tears from her eyes
"Mia...."
"No James. You don't owe me any explanation. We're just friends remember?"
Mia said with sadness in her eyes
"Mia let me...."
"it's okay James. Congratulations I'll just pack my things and leave because I'm not needed here anymore. I always knew I didn't deserve any happiness anyways"
"no Mia that's not true please don't go I need you in my life Mia please I beg you, stay with me"
"its funny how you're telling me this but another lady is carrying your child. I can't take anymore insults I have to go now" with that she packed her bag and left while James watched helplessly.
Mia decided to go live with Granny knowing that Granny would gladly let her stay as long as she wanted and there won't be any drama. Maybe going to live with James was a mistake.
"Mia you are here with a box!"
Granny said looking surprised
"I'm here Granny I know I said I'll be fine but fate brought me back to you"
"funny child. So what happened?"
"Granny I'll tell you everything as soon as I freshen up"
"oh okay"
She settled in her room and took a shower then shortly after she told her Granny everything. When Granny asked her why she was hurt since she claimed that he was just her friend, she explained to her that the girl that was carrying his child was the same girl that had always bullied her in high school but Granny still didn't think it was enough reason for her to be so hurt except she had fallen in love with James. Mia laughed at the idea of her being in love with James she knew she had a little crush on him but it certainly wasn't love, did love even exist? To her it didn't because she never felt loved by anyone. The people who were supposed to love her were the ones that hurt her the most and the one who claimed to truly love her had just hurt her too so love surely didn't exist in her world. Granny gave her a big hug and told her she loved her and that love was very real.
"The love you seek shall soon find you and you shall know that love is real. It's a very beautiful thing"
She said looking into Mia's eyes
"I hope so Granny I hope so"
Mia said then wished Granny goodnight and went to bed.
James on the other hand couldn't sleep. He couldn't stop thinking about Mia, her smile, her scent, he just couldn't get her out of his head. He tried calling her just to hear the sound of her voice but she didn't pick his calls. Just when he thought Mia was finally falling for him Charlotte brought that sad news. It wasn't really a sad news because a child would soon be brought into this world, it was supposed to be a good news because there are so many people out there wanting so badly to have a child but what if the child was with someone you didn't love? someone that you didn't want to have anything to do with? someone who decided to show up at your place while you were trying to drown the pain of losing the love of your life in alcohol and then took advantage of the situation? what if the child was with someone as horrible as Charlotte? would it still be a good news. He felt so heart-broken, so lonely he missed Mia so much but he didn't know where she was, what was she doing right now what if she was stranded, what if she was in trouble? did she feel as miserable as he did? He hoped and prayed that she was okay wherever she was.
The next day he went to see Joe and Jude to tell them everything that was going on
"wait so you mean Charlotte is like 3 months pregnant for you?"
Joe asked with a surprised look on his face
"that's what she said. Mia left my house the moment she found out about it I don't even know where she is right now I don't know what to do right now guys"
"dude no offence but seriously I think you are an idiot"
Jude said and sipped from his cup of coffee
"did you guys not hear the part where I told you how I even got involved with Charlotte in the first place or do you want me to recapitulate"
They didn't respond they just looked at him with tired eyes before yawning
"guys this is a very serious matter"
"what! really I didn't know. Joe did you know it was a serious matter?"
"no I didn't"
they both laughed
"are you kidding me right now? like I'm telling you that Mia is gone and you're taking it as a joke?"
"oh no you said she left when she found out that devil Charlotte was pregnant for you"
Jude corrected
"but come to think of it what if she lied about it?"
Joe asked
"lied about what? she showed me the test results"
"well yeah she might be pregnant but how sure are you that the baby is yours? I mean we all know Charlotte, it's no news that she sleeps around and beside why is she telling you now that the pregnancy is 3 months old? I wouldn't want to believe that she just noticed she was pregnant"
"yeah James, Joe does have a point. What if the real father of the child decided to reject it then she decided to pin it on you"
"I never thought of it that way. Do you think she's capable of doing that?"
"excuse me, seriously? like did you just ask me that question? Jude did he just ask us that"
"I think he did"
"thank you for your help guys"
James said excitedly then went to Charlotte's house. Charlotte was so happy to see him. She attempted to give him a hug but he pushed her away surprising her. She started shedding tears and accused James of trying to deny her making him feel a little guilty. He apologized to her and just went home feeling all kinds of negative emotions at this point he didn't know what to do, he didn't know where he would find Mia and she wasn't answering his calls or replying his messages. How could just one night ruin his entire life? he felt lost, he felt frustrated, he kept calling Mia and texting her but she didn't reply she didn't want to speak to James she didn't want to have anything to do with him she tried desperately to forget about him but she couldn't. Every time he called she watched the phone ring but didn't answer it perhaps she didn't deserve happiness because she was a product of infidelity maybe a sad life was the punishment she got because of the mistake of her dad and mum every happy moment in her life always ended up being ruined by a sad event. From her mum dying to her stepmom hating her to her being bullied at school then her dad died and just when she thought she had finally found happiness life decided to drop another bombshell. There were just too many sad moments in her life. She sat on her bed staring out the window wondering when another sad event will take place in her life since it has been a trend when Granny came in
"Mia what's wrong? it's been two months since you moved out of James house and you are still like this"
Granny said with worry in her eyes
"Granny I'm fine"
Mia replied giving her a fake smile
"you keep saying that but then you are always in here doing nothing"
"Well I don't feel like doing anything. Granny you don't need to worry about me I'm doing perfectly fine"
"I'll only stop worrying if you promise to go out"
"okay fine Granny tomorrow I'll go out and have fun happy now?"
"yeah"
Granny smiled then wished her a good night.

Aww man
are things between Mia and James ruined now?
I was hoping they were going to end up together.
Charlotte just keeps ruining everything.
