Kongpob's eyes widened as he stared with disbelief at the old women, and he broke into a run.
"Granny.", he breathed in relief. "Is it you?", he questioned looking up at her with glassy eyes. She slowly smiled at him, ruffling his hair, and he felt his body relax.
"How?", he choked on his tears as they followed one after the other. He needed answers. The lady in front of him was deemed to be dead the same week his parents were killed. As per the information they received, his granny was abducted and later murdered by a group of rogues.
His parents being ambushed, his grandmother disappearing...everything done by groups of rogues. Not to mention the attacks and abductions happening across the kingdom...finally his mate getting poisoned.
His head started throbbing as if sensing a chord connecting all those incidents. They are definitely not solitary occurrences.
"How did you- "
"Later.", she shook her head, caressing his cheek.
"Your mate has slept enough.", she said as calmly as she could. "Let's wake him up, shall we?".Kongpob nodded his head, smiling a little through his tears.
"There is no trace of poison in his system. We pumped out everything in his stomach quickly enough, and his body is responding well too. It defended itself.", Beam scanned his eyes over his patient to the old lady, "After all he is a high-alpha."
"So...there's no damage done to his body.", Kannika raised her eyes to the young doctor who nodded at her.
"We have worked on every single angle. But the cause is still unknown.", Beam sighed.
"Actually, we have never seen anything like this.", Earth, the senior royal healer took a ragged breath.
"He can't wake up.....there has to be something...", Kongpob whispered, slumping on Lita like a wilted flower.
"Kongpob...", Kannika gained her grandson's attention. "Can you feel his wolf?".
Kongpob shook his head, puzzled. " At first, Lune could feel him...but it got weaker and now...nothing."
An audible sob escaped Lita. She blinked her tears away watching Kannika reaching for Arthit's forehead.
Kannika was mumbling incoherent words which were hard to catch. Everyone in the room watched the old woman who had her eyes closed, a frown marring her face. They stared at her blankly, shell-shocked to respond as she opened her eyes. They were white and non- human. Next moment, she withdrew her hand with a yelp as if touched a live wire.
"There is no time left. We have to act quick.", she hurriedly breathes out.
"He isn't in a coma, is he?", Earth looks helplessly toward Kong.
"The dramatic way you are conversing, is beating the hell out of me. Just tell me what's happening to my Arthit.", Kongpob demanded, glaring at Kannika and Earth, his voice thick with authority.
"Your highness is not in coma.", Kannika said in a cracking voice. "What I am going to say is definitely going to contradict your medicinal diagnosis. Physically he is fine....but spiritually, he's not."
"What do you mean?", Aroon sputtered.
Kannika eyes Kongpob who is holding Arthit's hand between his, kissing it multiple times, as she slowly considers what to say.
"It's hard to explain."
"Try me.", Kongpob leans forward.
"Arthit's soul is trapped in a limbo...like a forgotten place, which is hard to perceive in a physical form. A never- ending land devoid of anything mundane.", her tone was neutral.
