The wind whistled through the leaves which rustled in protest. The autumn sun has set an orange dome of yellow and red leaves contrasting the dark wood and mud. The late night rain water mixed with fallen leaves and wet soil created a soothing scent which tickled my senses in a pleasant way.
Listening to the far approaching rain clouds to the south, I stepped over the cobblestone path towards the moon temple.
Today morning, I woke up to an empty bed with a note from my lovely mate. He has urged me to eat more food and take more rest. And....whose fault is that , Mr. Rojanapat...who didn't give me a moment to rest. But I wouldn't completely blame you, since I was also a willing participant. The whole week has been chaotic that we have missed our intimate moments. It was like something unleashed inside us that we couldn't get enough of each other. But I can't rest.
Arthit has to visit the headquarters for some important work which we had been neglecting for the past week. P'Knot and P'Ming will be assisting him.
There was also a sighting of a pack of rogues sprinting in the southwest forest which once belonged to Red Moon pack, now granted to Silver Lane. Dad, P'Phana, P'Forth, and P'Bright have set out for the said region early in the morning. Under granny's guidance I have prepared some anti-adrenal darts to tackle any rogues who had taken the drug mentioned by Sai, and the royal army will be using it today if needed.
Not to mention, the Red Moon festival is around the corner too. Naturally as the Regent Luna, it's my duty to make sure everything is perfect for the celebration. So here I am..on my way to the ancient temple of Moon Goddess. Rome will be spending the given time with his mate's family while Wayo's heat has confined him in his chamber to his utter dismay.
"I think it's about to rain. We should make it fast.", Khoafang clutched her coat tighter as the wind gained strength. I smiled as I could already see the temple dome from the distance.
P'Phayu hurried next to us, "We're almost there, your highness."
Suddenly I felt a tingle down my spine, as I stopped on my tracks. I gazed around to see a strange white mist descending upon as. An eerie silence accompanied the mist. No birds...no breeze, or animals could be heard.
"Your highness, stay beside me.", P'Phayu has taken a protective stance just like my other guards. Khoafang clung to my arms, and I could feel the tremors crawling over her skin.
"Stay close.", I pulled her closer.
I could hear footsteps....hundreds of them..paws hitting the ground in such a ferocity that leaves trembled. Mist grew tall like a huge wall around us. Then I could see the shadows...moving around. Growls and thick scent of blood pierced our senses.
Forms of humans and wolves, fighting..trying to tear apart. It was like my dream, which I had after inhaling the mist when Sam tried to attack me. P'Phayu launched forward as a rogue tried to reach us.
Everything was happening in a span of a couple of seconds that we had barely enough time to shift. I choked on my breath when my own wolf was weirdly not cooperating in the shift. I tried to connect with her....urging her to come forward..but she...
She's sleeping!!
Before I could ponder over the fact, there was a whistling sound, and something fell next to me with a heavy thud.
"Khoafang!!", I screamed trying to hold her onto his lap. There was a dart with yellow liquid piercing her skin by the collar bone. She twitched in my arms for a second before going completely still.
I try to stand on my feet supporting her with my body, then I heard a second whistle followed by an intense pain of my skin being pierced by something sharp. I gasp for breath and stagger forward before pulling the same needle from my nape, this time half filled with even thicker yellow liquid.
