The yellow light of the late autumn sun swept through the stained glass of the basement. But I felt no warmth in it. The temperature inside the chamber has turned icy sending shivers through my skin.
"That's not how you treat Your Highness.", Namtarn said to Khoafang as if she was scolding a child.
Khoafang skipped on her way to the lady devil and stood beside her.
"But I didn't get my fill.", she pouted disgustingly at Namtarn.
"Shut up you mutt.", the she-devil snapped at her as disappointment and sadness flashed across Khoafang's face.
Namtarn turned to face me with a smirk, "You really thought you could take my place beside Arthit?", she scoffed. Straight to the point, I see. "I've been guarding him for years from filthy pests like you. And you thought, you have a chance with him?", she hissed with unguarded fury in her eyes.
Namtarn's face was carved in disdain, "Don't worry, once you are put into the right use, I will make you disappear from his life and take what's rightfully mine."
I am not at all in a mood to listen to what this deranged woman has to say because I am well aware of what she feels about me. But Khoafang definitely came as a surprise. They both wanted to be with my mate-ridiculous, isn't it?, and the Narong guy, as far as I remember he was one of the candidates for the throne along with Dad. So this person would be after the throne , right? I sigh and internally roll my eyes. I am definitely caught between a bunch of delusional idiots.
I dare not show that I have got all my strength back. It will only take a slight snap to break the shackles and teach these three a lesson, but I decided against it to wait for many reasons.
I wanted to know the truth behind all the mishaps following us and their involvement in this mess, and I am not sure how many rogues are guarding the premises. I can only sense there are many.
When I touch the ground, I can also feel the vibrations...the fight happening between wolves. I am sensing some royal aura within the fighters. It has to be the cavalry lead by Dad. Not to mention my mate has reached out to me earlier, and I have shared him what I perceive. He is flying with his envoy. Yeah...you heard it..he's flying his chopper.
Feigning weakness, I slump into the metal pipe behind me.
" I wanted an opening to get close enough to harm you, fortunately the one you regard as your sister harbored hatred towards you.", Namtarn ends her monologue.
Oh dear goddess, she is still talking? Doesn't she get tired or something? Girl...you talk too much! I sighed.
"But I have to admit it Kongpob, you are one lucky bitch. You survived the run your sister orchestrated with Sam, you dodged the poison..hell you even got away with any attacks even before you were born.", Namtarn looked at me with her quite dark narrow eyes.
I clenched my palms into fists and realized with great annoyance and lack of surprise that Khoafang had a hand in all these attacks. I swallowed back my restlessness, they have attempted harm in several other ways...when and how?
"Always an inquisitive one, aren't you?", Narong looked at me, his eyes filled with contempt. At this point I knew asking 'why?' would be ridiculous. All I have to do is buy some time for my mate and his troops so I simply nodded.
" By this time you would have figured out who I am, right?", he smirked.
"Narong Rojanapat.", I leaned back not breaking the gaze.
"Yes! You know my name.", he laughed out loud as if he had heard the biggest joke of the year. "What did they tell you...Narong is a loser? a coward? good for nothing wolf?", his cold voice bounced with unparalleled fury.
"No....that's what those filthy lowlifes call me...while I am the rightful heir to the throne, not my deranged cousin, Aroon.", his chest heaved.
" You know how many times I have dreamed of massacring the whole circus they called family and claim what's mine?", Narong squeezed my shoulders in an iron grip.
" From childhood I was forced to share everything with that mutt..until the throne was snatched from me...they crowned that meek as the king while I was left rotten.", he spat coming to his feet.
"I thought maybe...maybe if I get a powerful mate from a valiant clan, I can usurp the throne...but no!! Fate played its ugly part granting me a palace maid as my mate, while he got Lita, daughter of one the strongest alphas who ruled the biggest clan in the North. I hated...hated the whole idea of destined mates."
I was startled enough in surprise as he stood abruptly letting go of my shoulders. "Then I witnessed Chanya's hatred towards your family when she tried to hurt you. Eventually I got introduced to Sai through her. We were all different but we had something in common, our intense hatred of fated mates. We wanted to avert the fate. And the book was the only redemption. I opened the gates for the rogues to create chaos so they she could steal the book of red wolf. We faked our own deaths to avoid prosecution as some were killed in the attack. Well... you know sacrifices for a greater good."
"What greater good.....", I scoffed audibly.
He brushed aside my words as he continued, his face tightening alarmingly.
"Even though we terminated your parents, the power didn't extend to Chanya. We weren't bothered about you since you were an omega. Then one day, it all made sense...it's the blood...and you are the key. But it was late....to late to save my Chanya.", he looked at me as if I have caused him a great grief.
"She was pregnant with our child, so was Samran's wife. We secretly infused the special potion into Samran's mate's food, the same potion Chanya took. The special medicine which would create a new race of mateless warewolves who are loyal solemnly to us. But it was again botched. Continuous exposure to potions and vials had already made Chanya weak that she succumbed to death while Namtarn lost her mother."
His face was shimmering with agony. " Knott almost identified Namtarn as his mate...just in time for her to evade."
My body jerked in surprise from the new piece of information. He chuckled at my reaction as I gave him a hard look.
"We became desperate. It was pure coincidence or my stupid luck I got hold of a sample of your blood which was taken during a routine checkup back in your old pack. And it worked....like a miracle, and it was so strong that it gave immediate results.", he proudly glanced at Namtarn who stood there with smirking lifeless gray eyes.
Namtarn shrugged and walked towards him and stood towering over me, "You damn bitch, what makes you so strong, even after multiple attempts of murder.", she raised her foot to kick me but didn't move a bit as I pinned her under my stare. My aura wafting around in waves.
"Magnificent!!", Narong said in a weird sense of satisfaction.
"No...", Namtarn yelled in fury, jerking away Khoafang who was trying to pacify her.
"Indeed....Duang Jun herself.", he bowed a little which I felt as a mockery. I am not supposed to be bonded like this...how could this pathetic excuse of wolves can bind me like a flimsy week dog...I am the......
"Moon Godess!", Narong said.
