Plot- Kiara gets into a fight with her parents. JJ notices something is wrong when he goes to pick her up.

JJ sat in the back of the Twinkie rolling a small blunt. He didn't get far before Pope snatched it from him. The blonde didn't even bother trying to get it back.

He knew exactly what Pope would say. He was 'trying to keep the signal clean.'

Yeah, we'll my signal is working just fine thank you

John B piped up from the wheel, "Someone go get Kie!"

JJ immediately sat upright, making Pope stare at him confusedly.

"Pipe down, dude. It was just a blunt. I'll give it back later. I'm trying to keep-"

"Yeah, yeah, the signal clear. That's cool. I'll get Kie!" He slid the door open and gave a salute.

Both Pope and John B watched in mild amusement as he nearly tripped twice. Then he was in Kiara's parents' restaurant and out of sight.

Once inside, JJ stopped to inhale the smell of seafood. He considered asking Kie if they could spare a plate before realizing that probably wasn't the best idea. Her parents didn't fancy the idea of a rebellious surfer anymore than the rest of the Pogues.

"Yo, Kie!"

A smile lit up Kiaras features as soon as she heard his voice. Then, when reality dawned on her, it faded. Still, she followed the sound to the front counter where he sat like an impatient four year old.

"I can't go." She stared at him seriously. "Dad said no."

"And you've listened to daddy when?" JJ chuckled, taking off his hat to push his hair back.

"He's serious this time."

She fiddled with her necklace, never really making eye contact. The boy watched her nervous movement for a moment before looking worried.

"Come on." He tried to lighten the mood. "What am I gonna tell the guys?"

Kiara sighed. "Look, can we talk outside?"

Oh, shit... JJs mind wasn't helping matters.

Kiara led him out back where she sat on a bench and patted the seat beside her. He hesitated.

"Uh, what's going on, Kie?"

"We had a fight."

JJ finally sat down. "What happened?"

She sighed again, making his instincts kick in.

"Hey," He brought his hand to touch her arm for less than two seconds. "You alright?"

"No, not really. They threatened to kick me out. My parents say you guys are a bad influence."

"I mean... they aren't wrong."

"But thats not the point! You guys are my best friends! I love you like family and they expect me to just drop you all for some stupid kook school." Kiara blurted out, rage boiling over.

"Wait, what's this about a kook school?"

She suddenly stood up. "Fuck it. I'm going with y'all I don't care what they say."

She made a move to storm off to the Twinkie before JJ caught up. "Wait, Kie!"

She stopped. He looked down at his shoes and then up into her eyes.

"A-Are you sure...? Are we worth it? We'd never want to drive you away from your family." He reasoned, slightly worried his truthful words would cost him his best friend and hopeless crush.

"Of course it's worth it."

He didn't even try to hide his smile at that response. "Yeah?"

"Yeah."

Then he was hugging her, which admittedly caught her off guard. He was grinning widely.

"Man, I'm so glad you're a Pogue. You're literally the best."

"I know. Come on, I bet Pope and JB are waiting."

"Oh, they are." JJ suddenly realized. "Shit, I was supposed to bring you back sooner..."

He'd completely forgotten the mission as soon as he saw her. But that was a given. Kie was his kryptonite.
