Plot- Kiara is sick, JJ does whatever he can to make her feel better

Requested by Jiaramaybanks

It had been a beautiful morning for every Pogue... except Kiara. The headache was the first thing she noticed just as JJ pulled her closer in their bed. That, and being very hot. So she gently pushed him back with her palm, internally groaning when he whined in protest.

"Get back, babe, it's too hot." She grumbled, and JJ seemed to wake up.

"Dude, it's freezing in here." He sat up, letting concern take over his features. "You alright?"

"M'good." She nodded, but her actions didn't match her words. It was then that JJ had felt how clammy she was.

"Kie..." He paused, feeling her forehead. It was warm, as he predicted. "Yeah, that's not good. Stay here, I'm gonna grab a thermometer. Where's that tea stuff you make when I'm sick?"

Kiara rolled her eyes as the blonde boy hopped out of bed. "It's just a headache, J." Her own body betrayed her, piercing through her thoughts with a sharp pain. JJ watched her wince.

"Yeah, it's just a headache and you got bitchslapped by the sun?" He gave her shoulder a squeeze as a way of making sure she knew he was joking.

She couldn't help but laugh despite the pounding in her head. She watched his back the entire way out and sat up when JJ returned with said thermometer. It did seem a little childish, but she let him do all the work.

He frowned at the number. "Just a headache, huh?" He showed it to her and she grimaced. "100. That's a fever last time I checked."

"Well, great. What are we supposed to do now?"

"You," He kissed her forehead. "are gonna lay back down and tell me where the tea stuff is. I'm gonna figure out how to make it and then I'm gonna put on a movie since we're both taking the day off. I got this."

"Don't you work-"

"Not today, I don't."

He was hopeful that she wouldn't shut the operation down and insist on some crazy jam packed productive routine. She was definitely more organized than most people, but even she deserved a break. He was practically begging her with his eyes.

Eventually, she mumbled back a response. "Cabinet. With honey, not agave."

She watched him celebrate a silent victory. Then, after a salute, and a "Yes, ma'am" he was gone. Since he wasn't in the room with her, she could feel her body pressing the issue at hand. Her throat was sore, and although she was hot before, her arms had started to produce goosebumps.

She wasn't exactly sure how she'd gotten sick, but she was definitely grateful for JJ's nursing. A grin painted her face when he came back with a steaming cup and a packet of club crackers.

"If you're hungry, I can make you something, but I figured crackers would be okay for now."

"I literally love you so much." She whispered, settling back against the board of the bed. "I'd kiss you, but I wouldn't want to get you sick."

"You know I don't care about that."

Her gaze was disapproving, so he caved. "Fine, but you can make up for it later. I'll help." He smirked and her laugh bounced off their room walls.

He flipped through tv channels next, murmering about how he'd call Kie's job and his own to let them know a somewhat less than truthful situation. Kie was sick and JJ was helping. To their bosses, Kie was sick, and JJ had caught it too.

After fixing the movie, he returned to the sheets with his girlfriend. He then added an extra pillow behind her, taking the opportunity to give her another kiss despite her worries, and cradling her in his arms.

While they were a very affectionate couple most days, it was true that JJ was closer than they would've been normally. He never left her side. Not even when John B interrupted their movie with a phone call.

"Hey, man, where are you? Kiara's dad is mad you both flaked on the job."

JJ was obviously annoyed by his words. "Kie isn't feeling well... I hung back with her. I was going to call in a minute."

"So what should I tell him?" The Routledge inquired. "She's gonna get questions either way."

Kiara shifted a little in his arms, which made the blonde boys heart race for a second. "Tell him were both sick. I gotta go, dude. She needs rest."

"Okay, tell Kie I hope she feels be-"

But JJ hung up, tossing the phone on the far side of the bed. He'd get back to John B later. She quit fidgeting seconds later, letting him relax with her. Having Kie clinging to him was probably one of the best feelings for him. He felt needed and appreciated.

Which was true anyway, but seeing it was so much different. Soon, her breathing evened out, and JJ discovered her sleeping form. He was squealing in the inside. Her usual fiery presence had been put out. She was so... peaceful.

He kissed her one last time, choosing to nap with her. It didn't take long to fall asleep too, considering she was basically a portable heater. His last thought was that he hoped he did as good as she did when he was sick.
