It didn't take long for them to finish getting ready. By the time they were all done, the Halloween Fair had been going for thirty minutes. "Come on Carter, I don't want to be late." Emma said standing at the door, nervously.

Carter just smiled, applying her fourth coat of dark red lip stain. "Emma, we are going to be what is called 'fashionably late'. This is help us show up Lilly and her little flunkies."

"Don't you think she will be fashionably late?"

"Lilly has this thing, she is a little OCD. She must be on time, she probably arrived exactly at 8:30." Carter finished applying her stain and tucked it in her boot leg. "Now, are you ready?"

Emma took a deep breath and tucked her long braids behind her ears. Carter took a lot of time her tiny braids, and putting strands of gold in them. When she was done she placed a beautiful crown over Emma's head. Now Emma really felt like the great Cleopatra. Beautiful and deadly.

They took their time walking down to the the court yard. Outside there where multiple tents set up. There was, in fact a roller coaster, that wrapped around the fair. At the end of the Fair, there was a giant red and white striped tent set up. You could see lights going off from the inside, and loud, thumping music playing.

"This is a lot cooler than I thought it would be..." Emma said, taking everything in. "Who paid for all of this?"

"The parents." Carter said, waving at some underclassman boy. "They like to show off how rich they are. Last year, the senior trip was to Italy. Completely paid for by the parents. They stayed in one of the senior girls house there."

"Wow. Can't wait for our senior trip." Emma mumbled staring in awe of the roller coaster. "We should go on that."

Carter laughed, "Maybe towards the end, we look to good to have it messed up."

"Promise?"

"Promise." Carter smiled, wrapping her long slender pinky, around Emma's child-like one. They continued walking around until they made it to the big Circus-like tent. Two men stood at the ten flap, dressed in creepy-jester like costumes.

"Please enter...join us for a wild night of dancing." The one on the left said smiling, ear to ear. Emma felt shivers run down her spine. She hated clowns, or anything remotely like them.

They scuttled in, finding the tent filled with moving bodies. They were all in the center dancing and laughing, behind masks and make-up. The first person they saw, of course, was Lilly being fawned over by a group of boys. She wore a short dress that was made of long, fake, purple hair. It was one of those "sexy monster" costumes, complete with the boots and furry hats. "Slut." Carter coughed into her hand.

Emma couldn't help but nod her head.

"Emma?" she turned to find Joe standing in a pirate costume. "I mean...arrrgg ye lookin' mighty fineee." Joe said in a horrible pirate accent.

Carter giggled and Emma blushed. "Hi Joe. You're looking pretty good yourself." She said timidly.

Joe smiled, dropping the accent. "Hey, you wanna dance?"

Before Emma could say anything, Carter walked behind her, causally shoving her into Joe. Joe caught her easily. He looked down at her smiling, "Really, you look good as Cleopatra."

"I'm impressed you know who I am." She said, trying to be more cool and effective with her talk. They walked to the dance floor, where Emma commenced to be even more awkward than she was before. After a moment though she found the rhythm, and wen with it. It was till a couple songs later, did Carter pull her away from him. "Argg...I'll see ya soon missy!" Joe called after her smiling.
