"Lennon!" I shout as soon as I cross over the threshold of our apartment. I need someone to decompress to, and since she was there for what happened between Declan and I, I know she'll be able to talk me off the ledge I'm precariously on the edge of falling over right now.

I didn't see him for the rest of the day, the team finished their training and after they got introduced to me, they all left. Coach brought Mack and I into the gym to show me around and we all talked for a while, but I had a hard time focusing on the conversation because of my boiling blood and angry heartbeat pounding in my ears.

After we finished the tour, Mack set me up with my laptop and company email. She also had me get started on a couple of things while she was with me and could explain them. We stayed at the arena until around three o'clock when she let me go home for the day. Luckily, I don't have to go back there for a couple of days, which is why I need to talk to Lenni to get my head on straight before I see Declan again.

Lennon pops her head out of her bedroom door and when she sees my livid expression, her eyes go wide, "Uh oh, first day not go so well? Who do I need to beat up?"

"I bet you can't guess."

"Your new boss?"

"Nope, she's great. Awesome, actually, you'd really like her. Try again."

"One of the players?"

"Ding ding ding, we have a winner!"

She does a little happy dance, acting like we're on a game show and she just won the grand prize, "What did they do? Need me to kick some hockey ass?"

Imogen decides to make an appearance from her room, hearing the commotion, "Correction, kiss some hockey ass!"

"Imo, shut it. And Lennon you already know what they've done, because you know him."

I see her face go slack as realization begins to dawn on her face. "No way in hell you're referring to who I think you're referring to."

"You better believe it. My boss even told me he's the fucking captain of the team."

"Oh my god! Nova, how did you not know before you took the job? You always do your research."

I frown, knowing she was going to call me out on the flaw, and I'm embarrassed to admit why I didn't do my research this time, so I mumble out, "I stopped keeping up with hockey after him."

Lennon just comes over and gives me a hug, knowing that I need it after seeing him for the first time in years. "Well, fuck him."

"Fuck who?"

I laugh, forgetting Imogen has no idea who or what we're talking about. "Declan Tate."

"Who the hell is that?" Lenni starts cackling, and I find myself wishing Declan was here to hear Imogen humble him. God knows he needs his ego checked if he's still anything like he used to be.
