I'm standing outside the arena, my hands nearly burning due to the scalding hot beverages I have in each hand. I have a plain black coffee for myself, and in my other hand I'm holding a cinnamon latte with whip cream and extra cinnamon sprinkled on top.

After telling the entire story of Nova and I to August and Rome last week, I asked for some advice on what to do. August, the king of hookups, obviously didn't give the best advice, but Rome told me I should do my best to apologize so that Nova feels comfortable working here. But he also told me to not come on too strong, which I guess I'm choosing to ignore since I got here an hour early for practice because I knew she was coming in this morning just to deliver her coffee that I'm hoping is still her favorite.

After seeing her become so upset the other day, I knew I had to put in the work to get her to forgive me. I honestly don't blame her, but her reaction to me calling her Bambi has me thinking there may be something else going on, something bad that I'm only making worse. So, my goal with the coffee is to win her over in hopes she at least warms up to me, but my end goal is to get her to talk to me, because I think she must have something going on, and I feel a need to be there for her, in any way I can.

I'm beginning to give up hope of her coming in today, I've been waiting here for nearly thirty minutes now, but then I see a cab pull up and Nova hops out, and just like every time I see her, her beauty mystifies me. Her dark hair is in loose curls draped around her face that is decorated with a light layer of makeup. She's wearing a black knit dress that hugs her curves, paired with tall black boots that hit just below her knees and sheer black tights. The kohl liner surrounding her eyes makes the spring green pop more than usual, even from how far away I'm standing.

She begins shoving her phone in her bag as she makes her way over to me, distracted. She hasn't seen me standing here yet. But then she looks up and halts, as if she's been frozen mid step. Her arms drop to her sides and her eyes widen, showing that she obviously wasn't expecting my presence this morning.

Here's to hoping this encounter goes better than the other day. "Good morning, Nova," I extend my hand out that's holding her coffee and nod towards the cup, letting her know it's for her.

A skeptical brow rises on her face, but then she just shrugs and begins moving again, walking closer to me before stopping until she's only about a foot away from me, closer than we've been in a while, but still too far.

She grabs the coffee from my hand, but refrains from taking a sip, "Are you trying to poison me?"

I laugh, "Now why would I try to do that?"

"Who knows, but I don't trust you."

"No?"

She just shakes her head, so I grab the coffee from her hand and take a sip, holding in my cringe from the rich sweetness that coats my tongue before handing it back to her. Her brows raise in surprise, but she doesn't say anything and instead takes a sip of the coffee and walks past me into the building.
