Your P.O.V.
It was one of the many cold and rainy days of autumn. My mother was so kind to send me to the store for groceries. but what I brought home was not what I expected to find at all.
(if your from a county where they don't speak English than imagine you say this in your native language)
let's see if I have everything I need.
I took a short list from my pocket
Milk, cheese.bread, butter, eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, bananas, and flour.
that's everything she asked for. alright.
I walked to the checkout, paid for everything and packed it in a bag before I walked out of the store. As I did so a few raindrops fell on my face.
Oh no, it is raining. Good thing I got an umbrella with me.
I placed the bag down so I could reach in my handbag. that's where I stored an unfoldable umbrella. I quickly opened it before I took hold of the bag and started to walk home. The route I would normally take seems to be blocked off. the officers standing next to the blockade informed me it wasn't safe to pass trough because of an accident that had occurred with some spilled oil and a few cars that crashed due to that. so I turned around and walked down a quiter street. there usually is bearly to no traffic passing through but due to the blockade, it was packed with cars. they all honked at each other to hurry up. People on the sidewalk rushed towards a store or their car to find shelter from the rain. but I didn't really care. I wasn't bothered by this weather at all. that's why I didn't even bother to walk faster.
About halfway down the street, I saw a homeless man who was sitting in the middle of the pouring rain. Before him stood an empty can. sometimes with a little bit of luck, someone threw a few cents in it but most people who walked past him spent no attention to the poor man at all they just ran to their destination.
At first, I did not think much of it. of course I felt pity for the guy and I was sure to give him some money when I passed. but then i saw what he wore.
A red shirt, the sleeves were rolled up just above his elbows. the shoulders have a patch on them, a circle with a wrench in the middle. he is wearing a brown overall with a big work belt on his waist. on it, he had some pouches and a yellow cable attached to it.
on his knees, he wore yellow knee pads and a pair of boots on his feet.
on his right hand, he had a yellow glove with gray doted fingertips. in that hand, he held a wrench.
On his head, he has a yellow hard hat with a pair of tinted goggles.
Is that... no way it cannot be Dell Conagher!?!?! There engineer from team fortress 2!! No, it has to a cosplayer, even so. what are they doing in the middle of the street, i should go check on them.
I took my phone from my pocket and dialed my mother's number. not much later she picked up. I asked her if it was alright if someone joined us for dinner.i told her it was a friend of mine and she agreed. I ended the call and took a deep breath before I walked in his direction. I stood right before him, but he doesn't seem to notice. He has shrunk himself into a ball, his knees against his chest to protect him from the cold.
I held my umbrella above him, it was then that he realized it suddenly had stopped raining and looked up.
now I did see. that it wasn't a cosplayer. It was, in fact, the Engineer from the game. his face had the cartoony shape and look. But his normal hidden eyes were now uncovered. my (e/c) eyes met his, they were a beautiful baby blue color only to be found with sadness in them.
Engineer: Oh, hello young lady.
he softly spoke
"Oh yes he speaks English"
(if English is your native language already than you can ignore the sentence above)
(y/n): Hi mister, Are you alright? why are you here all alone in the rain?
Engineer: Well its nothing to be concerned about. I'm fine really.
(Y/n): Are you waiting for somebody?
engineer: No I'm just sitting here. that's all.
(y/n): I can't really imagine you wouldn't mind if your clothes get soaked. Is there anything I can do for you?
engineer: You're sharing your umbrella and some kind words that's enough already.
he smiled a little.
some of the early fallen raindrops rolled down from his hard hat, on his face and then to the ground.
(y/n): how about we go somewhere else to shelter. Its way to cold here.
I can offer you a hot cup of coffee or something to eat as well.
Engineer: I can't accept it.
(y/n): please I insist. it's the last thing I could do.
Engineer: you're way to kind miss.
I helped him to his feet and so we headed back to my place.
