Dean's P.O.V.
Sandra didn't think I noticed the little nuances about her that changed, but I did. No one walks through a slaughter house, watches someone's spine get ripped out, and then walks away undisturbed. The fact I caused it made me even more depressed, but now that we could sense each other's emotions, it was harder for us to keep secrets. She told me what she did when she figured out that I was gone, and it made me feel more guilty. Sandra was willing to start a whole war for me, but I wasn't willing to stay alive to fight for her.
Whenever she turned and saw me now, she'd always smile, and it was always genuine, but there was always some sadness in it. Because when she looked at me, she remembered everything in that house. When I asked she said she'd do it all again for me if she had too, and judging by the steel in her voice she wasn't joking, but just because she would doesn't prevent depression. I never wanted her to get involved in the everyday violence of werewolves because I didn't want her light to fade away, and in my quest, I caused the very thing I'd worked to prevent.
Sandra would never be the same again. But she's too strong to let me see that.
As I laid next to her staring at the window, I looked at the clock. Five thirty am. Lately she's been having trouble sleeping. She has nightmares, and she's scared that when she wakes up I won't be laying next to her. In fact, she sleeps with her arm thrown over me, like that'll stop me from going away again. Sandra is paranoid, and it's my fault. Everything that's changed her all happened because of my very stupid decision. Now we were on the brink of war.
Looking down at her, her face was peaceful, but a solitary tear slipped out of her eye, and I wiped it away gently so I wouldn't wake her up.
Sandra's crystal tears, were my fault.
