Just because the last fight was over didn't mean the pack could leave. They had patrols around the house everyday because Trent wasn't the type to accept that kind of defeat. Dean escorted me everywhere, Levi was cracking down hard on keeping an eye on me, he actually made Dean shift earlier, so he was sleeping on my bed now, resting.
That's when I heard the knock on the door, I know every thing Levi told me was that Dean should answer the door or be nearby when I do, but I don't think that Trent would knock before he tried to murder me so I opened it myself. Levi stood there, Diane behind him with a sheepish look. "I need to talk business with you Sandra." Levi said, walking in, I closed the door behind him and Diane as she murmured apologies. "What business?" I asked. "I know you're a really smart one Sandra, and I want to set up headquarters here." Levi surprised me with his straight forwardness.
"Um, I know they aren't around much, but my parents do come home sometimes." I responded, Levi sighed, "The pack is tired of walking back to our house, they'll leave when your parents are coming back, you just have to give them a little heads up, they'll be gone before you know it." He urged, I sighed. "Fine, we only have ten extra rooms and a basement though. Not enough beds." Levi was grinning widely, "Doesn't matter," Diane gave me a small smile as they left. Once again I locked the door, but then I felt uneasy. Like I was being watched. Out fear I moved slowly, and grabbed my silver dagger.
As I went to peer out of the window, Dean asked, "Sandra?" I know he's still upstairs, but I jumped up so high I nearly dropped the dagger onto the ground. I knew he felt the surprise, and I threw open the window curtains. "Sandra!?" His voice was more concerned and he was down the stairs in a matter of seconds. "What are you doing?" He asked, when he noticed me squinting to see into the darkness. "I have this weird feeling. I know I might just be paranoid, but that's what is. Paranoia. I feel like someone's watching me." I answered, Dean walked up behind me, and peered out into the woods. He leaned forward a little more.
"All I'm seeing is Levi's wolves. I'm not sensing Trent or any other pack members around. I might have to talk to Levi." He murmured, "You don't think I'm crazy?" I asked, he shook his head. "I trust you." Dean answered, I was relieved. "Is that why you've been feeling uneasy the past few days?" He asked, I nodded. Dean wrapped his arms around me, "Well, I'll protect you." He whispered, I rolled my eyes, "Isn't that what everybody does now?" I answered, I let out a squeal of surprise, when he lifted me off my feet, twisted me, and tossed me over his shoulder. "Yeah, but I'm the best at it." Dean answered arrogantly. "Whatever." I complained, as he laid me down on my bed. "What did Levi ask you about?" He asked casually, I know he hates it when Levi comes over uninvited, part of me wants to urge him to accept Levi and stop hating his family, but another part of me understands.
"He wants werewolves to stay here while my parents are gone so they don't have to walk so far. I said it was the least I could do." I explained, Dean nodded, smiling a little. "What?" I asked as he sat next to me on the bed. "Nothing." I glared at him, I could feel how bothered he was. "Tell me you idiot." I retorted, taking his hand in mine, and lacing my fingers through his. We both sat on my bed, legs stretched out, and leaned against the headboard. "Well, I've spent my whole life avoiding living with my family again, and now I've brought them back, and I'm going to be living with them again." He explained, I stroked his fingers with my thumb soothingly, and he stared at our hands. Mine was so pale next to his.
The question burned in my chest, "Why?" I asked, he sighed. "Knew you would ask that." He muttered, "If you don't want to answer I won't pry. But I just want to know." I responded, he let out a sigh. "Well it isn't a happy story." He started slowly. I chuckled bitterly, "Nothing about me involves much happy stories Dean." I retorted, he let out another long sigh, "Well I know you probably already know, but there's two types of werewolf packs. Family packs, and alloy packs. In family packs, it's like royalty. There's one bloodline with the first werewolf, and that's who the Alpha blood line is. The oldest sibling of the Alpha blood line always inherits the Alpha powers once their predecessors die, but they can't kill them, or they won't inherit the powers. Alloy packs are when a bunch of different wolves get together and choose an Alpha, in those packs you have to kill the Alpha to become Alpha.
