Modern AU

Y/N POV

It was just another boring school day. I had arrived at school a bit earlier than usual, so I decided to quickly gather all the books I needed for the day from my locker and then I walked to the library to read.

I entered the library to see my friend, Ray, peacefully reading a book on a beanbag. I decided to join him and maybe start a conversation with him.


"Hey Ray," I said.


"Y/N, just the person I needed to talk to. May you do me a favour?" Ray asked.


"Sure," I replied. "What do you need?"

"Recently, Anna's been following me like a lost puppy. She's really been getting on my nerves and I think she likes me since she won't stop flirting with me. I keep telling her I'm not interested but she just won't budge. I have to find a way to make Anna leave me alone. I hope this doesn't sound weird but can you act like my fake girlfriend for the next few days?" He explained.


 I looked at him with a shocked expression. I did like Ray, a lot, but the fact he was asking me to pretend to be his significant other just shocked me.

"Fine," I said, "Just so she'll stop following you around though." 

He hugged me. "Thank you," he said. I couldn't help but blush.

It was almost time for the first period and the other students were slowly showing up, including Emma and Norman. The two of them came next to us and we started a conversation on (favourite anime).

"Should we tell them about the fake dating thing?" I whispered to Ray.

"I don't see why not," Ray answered.

"Guys, Y/N and I are dating just for a while so Anna will stop following me around." Ray announced with confidence. 

Emma was a bit confused. The way Ray explained it, he made it seem like we are actually dating. "Wait, so are you two actually dating now or not?" She asked.

"No Emma, they aren't." Norman told her. "They're pretending to so Anna will stop bothering Ray."

"Ohh alright." Emma said with a tone of understandment and  disappointment. Then they started whispering to each other.

"What's going on?" Ray and I asked at the same time.

"Nothing!" The other two said in unison.

We heard the bell ring for first period. Ray kissed me on the forehead and walked to his first class. My face reddened in shock whilst Emma and Norman squealed delightfully.

During the lesson the only thing I could think about was Ray. I understood that I had to pretend to be his significant other for a while, but I felt surprised. I wasn't expecting him to make such sweet gestures towards me. I wondered what else was in store..

It was now time for lunch, thank goodness (least favourite subject) was over, I hate it. The second I left the classroom I saw Ray waiting for me. 

"Come on, Norman and Emma are waiting for us." He took my hand and lead me to the cafeteria.

We sat in our normal spot with Norman and Emma. Emma was just ranting to me how her least favourite teacher, the geography teacher Mister Andrew reduced one mark in her test for not having a gramatically correct sentence whilst describing a country. No one liked that teacher anyways. 

I assured her she was still doing well since she still got an A+ in that test, when suddenly Ray whispered in my ear.

"You don't mind if I feed you right? Anna's staring at me." He asked. Anna was indeed staring at him as if she was the paparazzi taking photos of a celebrity.

I hesitated a bit. "Sure," I answered.

My face went redder than Emma's hair as Ray spoon-fed me (favourite food). Norman and Emma started fangirling. I looked at Anna's table, she was sitting near Nat, Gilda and Don. Her friends seemed awed after realising Ray and I were in a 'relationship' but Anna looked furious and I might've just seen smoke exit her ears.

After lunch ended the bell rang for the next lesson. Anna could be seen death-staring me. I didn't care. As long as she was leaving Ray alone and not annoying him, I was happy. 

The only other time I saw Ray that day was in computing. Ray is my partner in this lesson and most of the time the two of us are working on one laptop together. We finally had some 'alone time'.

"Do you think the plan is going well so far?" I asked the ravenette seated next to me.

"So far it's going great. Anna hasn't spoken to me once and it's all thanks to you." He exclaimed. Ray looked very relieved but I don't blame him. I would be annoyed too if someone I wasn't that close to would keep flirting me even after I told them I'm just not interested.

"I'm happy to help!" I smiled at the boy.

He smiled back and said, "would you like to go out for a cup of coffee with me after school?"

I felt my ears get redder, "I'd love to!"

"It's a date then." He said casually. 

Messaging Emma

Emma

Wait WHAT??
DURING THE LESSON?? 

Y/N

Yeah! He's taking me to a coffee shop right after school!

Emma

Y/N THIS IS AMAZING!!!
I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!
Wait, you're in computing..
aren't you next to him right now?

Y/N 

I'm texting you in the bathroom,
how would I be able to use my phone in a lesson?

Emma

Oh right!
Well, since you're going after school
you won't have time to wear anything
casual for your date, the only thing I
recommend is just to enjoy it as much
as possible. You know Ray well,
there's nothing to be scared of.

Anytime! I have to put my phone away,
I'm supposed to be taking notes in biology
and I don't want Mr Yuugo to notice I'm
using my phone, plus Norman and I soon have to start
an experiment.
