Normal AU
Ray's POV

It's been a month since we arrived in America.

Everyone settled into this huge mansion. It's warm and cosy. Most of us are in school right now even though we already know so much. The older kids don't need to go to school due to their age, they're finding jobs or either doing voluntary work. The Ratris promised to provide us with a huge sum of money each year as compensation for everything we went through in the demon world so getting a job is basically optional.

Apart from trying to track down Emma's location, everything's fine.

(Y/N)'s been working every day and night trying to narrow down where Emma could be. Even though she keeps on denying it, she's tired. I've always hate seeing her like this. Back in the demon world, the (h/c)ette was always planning, working and fighting for our lives. I thought she'd get her well deserved big break once we arrived here. Now that I see the effort she's making to find her best friend, I realise she'd have to wait much longer to actually relax.

I knocked on her bedroom door.
"Come in." (Y/N) exclaimed. Her voice sounded tired.

I entered the room and there she was, trying to complete her homework. I wrapped my arms around her from behind. "What are you doing, dear?" I asked.

"Another chemistry experiment," She smiled, not looking up from her paper, "I'm almost done, though, if you're in need of anything."

"The weather's friendly today and it isn't either too hot or too chilly. Wanna go to the beach with me?" I asked.

The messy-haired girl looked up at me with a sad smile, "It would be a pleasure, Ray, but I was gonna spend the evening searching for Emma. I can't go to the beach with you today."

It was going to be hard convincing her. I just wanted her to relax for once.

I sighed. "Norman and I realised how much time you've been spending doing homework and looking for Emma. You haven't done anything else. We want you to relax, (Y/N). I think you deserve to have a break. Please, drop the books and the technology for at least one day and breathe."

(Y/N) got up from her seat and looked at me gratefully. "Fine, but who's going to look for Emma today then?"

"Don't you worry, Norman's already started." I reassured the (colour) eyed girl in front of me.

She pecked my cheek and wrapped her arms around me. "Good lord, what would I ever do without you Ray?"

I held her tight, "Does that mean you'll go to the beach with me?" I asked hopefully.

"Just give me a few minutes to conclude the chemistry report, then I'll start getting ready." (Y/N) smiled and I smiled back. I was so relieved she said yes.

A little later I had put on my black swimming trunks and prepared a large beach towel. we didn't need an umbrella or sunscreen since the sun would set very soon.

"I'm done!" I heard (Y/N) cheer as she came down the stairs with a bag of food. She was wearing a (colour) (one-piece/bikini) and matching sandals. Her (h/l), (h/c) hair was tied up into a ponytail. As always, she looked magnificent.

"Lets go, it's only a five minute walk." I took (Y/N)'s hand and we made our way to the beach.

When we arrived, we placed the towel on the sand and (Y/N) put down the bag.

"What do you want to do?" (Y/N) asked.

"What do you want to do? It's your break so you decide." I said.

"Fine, how about we swim for now?" She suggested.

I picked her up from her waist and held her bridal style. I snickered as I ran towards the ocean. (Y/N) giggled and told me to put her down as she wriggled her legs frantically. Once I arrived deep enough into the water which I was sure she wouldn't get hurt, I threw her in.

A couple of seconds later, (Y/N)'s head rised from the water. The said girl rubbed her eyes which were burning due to the salt. "This means war!" She exclaimed as she splashed me with water, I did the same to her until we were both rubbing our eyes.

"Truce?" We asked each other at the same time.

"Truce." We giggled and shook hands.

(Y/N) was smiling now, her cheeks would explode very soon due to the huge smile on her face. It warmed my heart to see her experience a life a kid should have. She never deserved to be raised in a child farm.

She was enjoying her break, I could tell. The (h/c)ette suggested we race each other, play mermaids and find seashells underwater. Of course we both felt exhausted at some point so we decided to lay down in the water like starfish. We did so but my left hand didn't let go of her right one. The two of us lay there in peace for a while, chatting about God knows what until we realised the sun was setting.

"Wanna go watch the sunset?" I asked.

"I'd love to." She smiled.

We swam back to the shore and sat down on the towel. The two of us munched on sandwiches as we watched the sun slowly disappear. The sky was coloured pink, purple, blue, and slightly yellow. The clouds a faint shade of pink. I pulled the girl next to me in an embrace so she wouldn't feel cold and kissed her cheek. Only to realise she had fallen asleep. She must have really felt exhausted.

After dusting any sand off of the towel, I wrapped it around (Y/N) to prevent her from shivering. I wore the empty bag and carried the sleeping (Y/N) home.

I was glad. She was finally able to express her inner child. The inner child that could never be released in the past.
