Winter dance

SCHOOL'S OUT! (for now)
Goodness today was a blast. My school had a winter disco and it was  just l i t. 
If you've noticed, yes, I'm writing a oneshot based off of one of today's many events.

By that I don't mean the time I almost threw up on popcorn due to dancing for long, I'm talking about the epic confession that happened between my bestie and her crush 🤭

Congrats girl, those long months of waiting were worth it and I'm so relieved and thankful that my otp finally became a reality. <3

Without further ado, let's get on with the oneshot!

Emma's POV  

"This sea of people is making me uncomfortable." I muttered to myself. I'd have to yell so loudly just to utter a single word to someone and my voice was feeling sore. The party was a blast so far but there was one thing missing.

For context, my best friend (Y/N) told me she found out that her crush, Ray, liked her back a few days ago. She wanted to confess to him during the winter dance, which was today, but she hadn't even spoken to him yet. The dense ass girl's been swooning over him for a while now. I'm so sick of seeing them crush over each other and not realise that the feeling is mutual. 

I looked at my watch. Crap. the party would be over in fifteen minutes. Screw it. If (Y/N) doesn't make a move, I'll be the one to help her make it.

It was like I knew luck was on my side when I turned around and saw Ray trying to cope with how loud everyone was being. He's not the type to like parties. The next thing I knew was, a conga line was forming. 

"Hey Ray, look a conga line! There's less of a crowd there!" I sighed a genuine sigh of relief when Ray grabbed my wrist and we ran towards the line of people.

We were dancing along when suddenly 'We Will Rock You' by Queen started playing. Everyone in the hall was stomping their feet and clapping to the rhythm.

I tapped Ray's shoulder. "Do you like (Y/N)?" I finally asked.

I did ask him a similar question in biology but he replied by saying we weren't close enough to be having this discussion. If he replied the same way today, I swore I would kill myself for failing once more to make my ship sail.

My thoughts were suddenly cut by his response.

"Yeah, I do." He started. "She likes someone else though. I have no chance with her." 

My jaw dropped.

My plan was actually working! There was just one thing I had to do for this to work. Sure, (Y/N) would be upset for telling Ray about her crush on him but she knows damn well that it'll be worth it.

"You do have a chance you blockhead! The person she likes is you. (Y/N) was actually gonna confess to you today but she's lost the confidence she had this morning when she planned to tell you. I'm sick of waiting for one of you to make a move. Now what are you waiting for, go confess!"

Ray's face turned redder than it was from all the dancing. He nodded at me with gratitude and ran to where (Y/N) was. I followed him and spied on their conversation from behind one of the hall's arches. 

The first thing I saw was (Y/N)'s face turning red with shock and disbelief. Then the two of them shared the cutest hug I'd ever seen. The first thing I did was tell Norman. He also knew about the mutual feelings Ray and (Y/N) shared for each other.

"Really?! Where are they at?" He asked.

I pointed at the couple and we ran towards them. 

"Is it true?! Did you really?" Norman looked like he was about to cry.

"Yeah!" (Y/N) exclaimed. She looked like she thought this was all a dream.

Norman and I joined their hug and cried happy tears with them. 

"This was exactly how I wanted to end the first term of the scholastic year."  I whispered to myself.

Bohemian Rhapsody started playing. (Y/N) got on Ray's back and I got on Norman's. The four of us sang along with our other friends. 

(Y/N) smiled at me gratefully and I smiled back knowing how I had helped to make her day perfect.

I'm so glad term 1 ended so happily. 

Extended ending

"Bye, Ray!" (Y/N) hugged the taller boy as he hugged her back. They separated from the hug and went their separate ways. The party was over and I was so ready to go home and finish my homework so I could rest for a whole two weeks of holidays.

"Emma I am so mad at you. Why'd you tell?" She grabbed me from my shoulders and shook me roughly.

"I- had- no other- choice!" I said in between each shake. "You weren't gonna even tell him anything if it weren't for me!"

"Just joking with you." She laughed. "Thanks, Em." She hugged me.

"Anytime!" I exclaimed. "Now I gotta go or I'm gonna miss my ride home. See you soon!" I waved at her and left the building.

If I could relive today, I would.
