Restaurant

I have arisen. 

School dumped a bunch of summer work on me and I am still not done, I might die again rip soz

How's everyone doing?

(Y/N's POV)

Sigh. My favourite tube of mascara had just ran out and I was forcefully applying another brand onto my eyelashes. 

I peeked at my phone. Only 10 minutes left until I had to go to meet up with my friends.

We'd be going to a fancy Italian restaurant together. Me, Emma, Norman and unfortunately my ex, Ray.

He had ended our relationship a couple months ago for personal reasons - which I understood and still respect.

 But it's just so awkward between us now.

 I hate to admit I still kinda like him.

At least Emma and Norman will be there to ease up any possible tension.

The restaurant's only two minutes away so I'll walk it.

I put on my coat (February only brought cold along with it) and left the house.

I felt my stomach rumble, not because of how hungry I was, but because of how nervous I was to see Ray there.

My phone dinged. A notification from Emma.

Hey (Y/N)! Norman and I are gonna be a little late, traffic's a bitch. Sorry girl!!

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK YOU'RE JOKING.

I had to reply. Normally.

Me
No worries Emma! See you soon then.

I put my phone back in my purse, internally screaming.

It's okay.

Maybe Ray will arrive later than those two!! 

I tried to ease my head even though I knew Ray's always early.

Small talk and awkward interactions, here I come!

"So Emma and Norman are going to be late?" Ray asked once we were seated on a table with two chairs.

I nodded. "There's apparently a bunch of traffic."

"Strange, I didn't find any."

I nodded again, pulling out my phone.

*Memory Loss has gone offline*

At this rate I'll be internally screaming in agony all night.

"Emma and Norman are still really far away.. Shit, we haven't even looked at the menu yet!" I laughed off the tension.

"You're right, we should decide what we're gonna eat before Emma and Norman arrive" We both picked up a menu, hands accidentally touching. I pretended that didn't just happen as I looked at the food options.

I internally screamed as my eyes hovered through the pasta section. Perhaps I could get a plate of Carbonara or Bolognese.

A waiter came up to us. "Are you two ready to order? Since it's Valentine's day today, lovely couples like you get to eat free today!"

My eyes widened at the words eat and free. If only Ray delayed the break up.

I chuckled. "Oh we aren't-"

"We'll each have a Bolognese then." Ray nodded to the waiter.

"Very good." The waiter wrote down the order before walking away.

"Ray why'd you do that?!" 

"We're college students. Plus, who wouldn't want to eat free food from a fancy restaurant."

I sighed. "If we get caught lying I swear."

"It's his fault for assuming we're a couple." Ray shrugged.

"And what about Emma and Norman?"

"You said they're far away right? I'm sure they'll be here way before the food is done."

Incorrect buzzer.

I looked at the message Emma sent me as I twirled the spaghetti on my fork. She was twenty minutes away. How slow is this traffic?

We even got dessert and those two still hadn't showed up.

At this rate I dont think we'll be able to make it, sorry guys!

No worries guys.

The waiter handed us the bill, which marked only twenty dollars for service. The rest was free. Ray and I split the bill and were about to stand up.

"Before you leave." the waiter said. "We just need you to prove you're a couple by showing us photos of the both of you and a kiss on the cheek."

I felt my skin heat up. But I had to do this for the free food.

I scrolled through my camera roll, finding a selfie we had taken a few months ago and showing it to the waiter who nodded in approval.

Goodness this was a strict process..

I felt Ray quickly peck my cheek out of nowhere. "Is that all?" He asked the waiter.

"Yes, thank you for dining here. Good night and Happy Valentine's day!"
