Ray's POV

"The ice is so slippery!" Norman tried to keep his balance once he stepped on the ice.

Norman, Emma, (Y/N) and I went ice skating. Originally, I didn't want (Y/N) to come. We rarely get along. Unfortunately for me, Emma kept begging and begging me to let (Y/N) tag along since the two were best friends. She wouldn't stop pestering me so of course I had to say yes.

"Don't worry, Norman I'll help you!" Emma smiled. She showed Norman how to keep his balance.

"I bet you'll fall once you get on the ice." (Y/N) walked towards me.

"Probably won't, I'm a natural when skating." I said in an 'in a matter of fact' tone.

"I don't believe yo-." I cut her off by getting on the ice and gliding around with ease. I did a couple turns to prove my previous point even more than I already had.

"How did you do that?!" The (h/c)ette stared in disbelief.

"Told you, I'm a natural. My mum used to take me skating each week when I was young. Anyway, can you skate?"

"Uh, a little." She said with an embarrassed and dumbfounded look on her face.

(Y/N) stepped on the ice. She pushed forward with her right leg and fell on her backside.

"Oww." I heard her groan in pain.

She tried to stand up but fell once more.

"Never mind. I can't skate as well as I used to." She admitted

"You used to skate?" I asked.

"Yeah," She nodded. "My older sister would teach me when I was seven." Then she got married and moved away with her husband, so I only know how to glide around."

I felt pity on her. "I can help you, if you'd like."

Her eyes widened in shock. I mean, I don't blame her. Her biggest school rival (who was always trying to one-up her academically) had just offered to help her. if it were the other way round and she were the one who wanted to help me, I would have been shocked as well.

"Uh, sure." She replied.

I gently took her hands. Even though they were soft they were also freezing cold but I didn't really mind. She had bright red blisters around her fingers. I tried my best not to accidentally touch them with my fingers. I guided her around and the two of us were skating in puny circles.

"Why don't you wear gloves?" I asked. "Your hands are chilly."

"They make my hands itch. I'm not a big fan of gloves." She replied. "Even though my hands do get swollen by the cold at times. I'd rather have blisters on my fingertips than irritatingly thick layers of wool.

"Chilblains?" I asked.

"Yeah, my skin is sensitive. They burn most of the time so I have to apply a cream to my fingers most of the time." She said.

"Do tell me if I hold your hand too tightly then."

"Yeah, sure." She responded with some pink on her cheeks.

Out of nowhere I felt someone push me towards (Y/N). It was Norman. I ended up falling on (Y/N).

"Ooo!" Emma cooed. "What's going on here?"

"Is there something you aren't telling us?" Norman raised his eyebrows up and down.

I blushed. "What do you mean? I'm just teaching her how to skate."

"By going around in circles? Yeah right." Emma giggled.

"Don't worry Emma, we'll get to the bottom of this." Norman reassured the ginger.

"For sure, let's go." With that, the two skated away.

(Y/N) and I stared at each other awkwardly. "Let's continue." I said and she nodded.
