GIA POV

"Can't believe your mother smacked you like that!" Bria went on about. Feeling slightly uncomfortable about what she witnessed.

"Look it's not a big deal" I downplayed the whole situation. I didn't need Bria getting involved and next thing I know I get sent somewhere else.

"You have to be kidding me?!... no one should have to suffer any kind of abuse!" She said.

"We all can't be as lucky as you" I said.

She blinked at me "what's that suppose to mean?".

Shaking my head "nothing forget it". She got up and stood in front of me "no what does that mean?!".

"It means not everyone can be as lucky as you. You have everything you could possibly want" I said.

She sat down next to me "I'm not as lucky as you think. I don't have my real mom. She died when I was a baby. You have your mom. My dad wants to bring this new woman into my life and I'm not ready to call her mom! Don't think my life is all rainbows and sunshine".

Now I feel like crap "I'm sorry Bria! I didn't know".

She cleared her throat "next time just come to my house from now on. That way you can somewhat escape a beating or two".

I smiled "thanks".

"Anyway what are we boring people?! Being twelve years old we should be doing something exciting. Let's go outside in the backyard. Oh what about the pool?" She said.

"Yeah I don't have a bathing suit" I said.

She rubbed her chin "I may have a bathing suit that can fit you. You're skinny so you'll fit anything".

Before I went on home, bria's father had us sit down for dinner. Her home always smelled so good. You could feel the actual love here. In my home you feel tension and knots all the time. Looking down at my plate "Bria that school you go to is horrendous".

"No it's not! It's an okay school. I met Gia there" she said.

"Yeah but what I heard from some parents I'm not feeling it. So as of next month you'll be in private school. It'll be better for you. Trust daddy!" He said.

Mentally cursing at myself cause if she leaves I'll be at square one all over again.

Bria looked upset "can Gia come too? We have enough month to support Gia!".

Her father turned to me "Gia how do you like the school you are in now?".

I shrugged "I hate it".

"How about you join Bria at the private school. I'll pay for both tuition"  he said.

I wasn't sure what to say or how to feel. It's a whole new school with new people to make fun of me.

Picking at my cuticles cause I wasn't sure.

"Daddy you're making Gia nervous. Of course she will come along. She's like the sister I never had" Bria smiled.

I fake smiled back.

"Wonderful! I will notify the school and then I will notify your parents Gia" he said.

I nodded.

As time went on Bria was always with me. We were never apart only when I had to go back home. But we have come accustomed to being together always. Anytime she had parties at her home I was there. Family vacations and I was there. It's like we were sisters.

But I didn't know it was about to change in a blink of an eye.

We were on a small weekend vacation. Bria's birthday just passed so her parents decided to go somewhere and have cake for her. Anytime they did something for her it was big.

But this time it was a surprise. Her step mother decided to invite a couple of people from our new school. So we hid out and she came in and we yelled surprise.

One of those people who was invited was a young boy name Thomas. Bria had a crush on him. When we yelled surprise he bumped me causing me to lose my balance but he caught me. I smiled cause if not I would've been on top of the cake.

Bria saw me and saw Thomas and got upset. She walked up to me and grabbed my arm aggressively while yelling at me in-front of everyone. I've never seen Bria like this before. So I wasn't sure what to do. But my arm was in pain. She pushed me to the ground and stormed away.

I was left confused. What just happened? Everyone started looking away from me. Embarrassed was my name. Thomas helped me up "whoa what was that about?".

I looked away.

My arm was in pain. I went to the bathroom and lifted up my sleeve to see a bruise forming.

It never stopped.
