GIA POV
"You okay?" Delano asked.
I nodded "yeah why?".
"You're quiet. I would think that excitement would be the theme today" he said.
He doesn't know that I'm not a positive person because things tend to always go left for me.
I shrugged my shoulders.
Pulling up this his cousin lot. There were about five cars lined up. The lot is huge but he only wanted me to pick from these five cars. And I'm grateful.
Delano got out and hugged his cousin and they started talking. I stood there just awkward. Delano turned to me "oh this is Gia. She's the one who will pick a car".
His cousin nodded "alrighty... it's your choice. These cars have been recently fixed and made over. So fixtures are brand new.
I nodded just walking to each car and touching it... when I get that spark that's the car for me. The last car was an old racer car from the fifties but for some reason it was grabbing my attention.
"This is the one" I smiled.
"Cool this is Christine... no affiliation to the movie but yeah" his cousin said.
Delano laughed.
"Christine... I like that" I said.
Who would've know I, Gia would be driving a car off the lot? Who? I would never believe it for myself. I couldn't thank Delano enough. He's been nothing but genuinely nice to me without wanting something in return. Like most men anyway.
Parking my car at my new home it just felt like things were falling into place for me. Finally.
I must've spoke to fast.
Hearing this old man television blaring so loud he definitely was hard of hearing.
The hotel was on fire!.
I didn't know what to think. But I had to get there and fast. Luckily the car I had used to race so it drove fast. By the time I reached the hotel it was blocked off and you smell the smoke.
Seeing flames and the firemen trying their best to tame it with their water.
I stood there and just watched as this hotel burned to the ground. My job, and oh my god Angie I hope she wasn't in there. I looked around to see it maybe just maybe I saw her standing in the crowd of people. But nothing.
My heart was racing.
After the firemen left and I stood there and saw just a space. No longer my job.
I felt a panic attack surfacing. Taking in deep breaths and counting ever so slowly.
The next day I found out Angie unfortunately was killed in the fire. She was sleeping when all this took place. Angie always took sleeping pills to sleep. Or she would be wide awake all day.
Sleeping pills didn't allow her to sense smoke or to even get up from the fire alarm.
She was the only true friend I had. And now she's gone.

"Ew Gia, clean up this nasty place. What the fuck have you been doing?" Bria asked.
Depression is a real thing. All I did was lay in bed and barely eat. But I had no need to move.
"Gia? Come on! Get up!" Bria pulled me but I wouldn't move. She wouldn't understand what I'm going through. "Can you leave me alone?" I asked.
She shook her head "hell no! Look how about we go out to this party tonight to lift you up a little. This place is starting to have a nasty stench to it".
"No parties! You go and I'll be here" I said.
She threw some clothes at me "go shower".
She can't let me rest and grieve properly. I got up and sat on the bed. Looking all discombobulated... "see there you go. Now go shower" she said. Fanning her away from me. She pulled my arm and stood me up. Pushing me to the bathroom and closing the door.
I have no job.
I lost a friend. The urge to slice myself was strong but because Bria is right outside I won't do it.
