Two days ago
"Shh" Calum said to his new friend who hid under his sweatshirt "hang in there buddy" he hurried past the front desk avoiding the receptionist and her questions.
"Hello sir!" A man said at the elevator.
Calum jumped in surprise "uh hey! Hi!"
"You alright son? You seem a bit jumpy.."
"Yeah just too much coffee" he lied.
"Young people and their coffee these days, I tell ya it's crazy" the man said.
Calum laughed politely.
"Well have a nice day!" The man said finally leaving the elevator.
Calum pushed the button to go up "day? What time is it?" The elevator came to his level and he stepped on "okay little guy just a few more floors"
Finally reaching Emma's penthouse he relaxed "that was successful" he breathed out relieved.
"Calum!" Emma said "you're okay!" She ran over to hug him but he backed away "what's wrong?" She asked.
"Okay don't freak out" he said "I just found someone that needs a home.." He said lifting his sweatshirt to reveal a puppy.
Emma gasped.
"Awe he's a cutie!" Ashton smiled.
Calum laughed "hi!" He said in his baby talk voice. The puppy barked and wagged his tail.
"What's his name?" Luke asked.
"Uh..."
"He doesn't have a name? That's horrible!" Luke said.
"Well sorry, I just found him! What do you think we should call him?"
"How about nothing! Calum, we'er not keeping that dog here" Emma said.
"What?" He asked confused "but it's a puppy! I thought girls loved puppies!"
"I do but there's no animals allowed in the building, I'm sorry but he'll have to go"
Calum pouted "it's not fair"
"And I just came up with a good name for him too" Michael complained.
"What?" Luke asked.
"Ketchup"
"Ketchup?" Luke repeated confused.
"Ketchup the dog?" Ashton asked.
"Yeah!" Michael said happily.
"That's a horrible name" Calum replied.
"We are not naming him Ketchup" Luke said.
"Well he likes ketchup" Michael said.
"How do you know?" Ashton asked.
Michael pointed to the kitchen where the puppy stood with his head in the fridge playing with a bottle of ketchup. The tomato sauce was already all around the puppies mouth and splattered on the floor.
"See Calum! Too messy to even hide him from security" Emma said walking over to the trouble maker and picking him up to wash off in the sink.
"But Emma I've always wanted a dog...please just give him a day or two" Calum begged.
She didn't look up but washed the puppies face with a washcloth.
"Emma please!" Luke begged with Calum "he's so cute!"
"Two days" she said "two days that's it" she finalized.
"Yes!" Calum cheered "Ketchup is staying!"
"That's not what I said!" Emma responded trying to get the other boys to hear but their excitement made it impossible. She looked down at the puppy who began barking with joy "dDn't name him! You'll get attached and won't want to give him up" Emma said to Calum who grabbed the puppy from the sink.
"Well I already don't want to give him up!" Calum said drying off the wet fluff of fur.
"Now we'll have to get a cat and name him Mustard!" Michael shouted.
Emma rolled her eyes but couldn't help smiling at their excitement. To see a group of escaped criminals dance around with a puppy was a strange sight. Although she never thought of them as criminals, they were friends.
Michael's phone buzzed from the coffee table. He left the excitement to check his newest message.
Calum looked over and noticed Michael's worried expression on his face "you good mate?" He asked.
"Yeah yeah I'm good" he said still looking down at his phone screen "I think" he said quietly to himself before locking his phone and walking back over to the group.
