This thing really ticks me off when it pops up in a fantastic work I am reading.
I know shit happens and sometimes your readers don't read the message you left them on your message board.
You can put this chapter up explaining whatever with you happened but it should be deleted when you put up the next chapter.
If you want the note to remain, you can put it either in the start or the end of the next chapter.
