So usually I see people making the mistake of giving 35 to 36 gaps/spaces before the asterisk (*), take my advice, don't do that.
Just simply put the blinker before or after the asterisk, and open the A option (shown in the picture above) and select the middle alignment.
Or highlight the asterisk and do the same :)

About the right hand side alignment, it's pretty useless to me but use that only when you're writing a mobile chat or a group chat and aren't using another application to generate pictures for it.
Like your (main) character is in the right hand side and the rest are left hand sided.
Or maybe writing in dialogue style.
One thing which I used the right hand side margin was for a letter in my work,

The I love you is in the left hand side whereas the With Love and Mix are in the right hand side,
This was the only time the right hand side alignment helped me without getting me to feel cringed.
So if you want, it sometimes comes in handy with letters too :)
