Greetings again,
So whenever I head in a fan fiction after seeing that it's description shows that it is pretty amazing, one thing that ticks me off is English/American names in a, let's say, Korean setting.
Like I understand one character having a name that doesn't match the setting/environment.
And you don't have to give them a background necessarily if they are a side character.
But if every side character starts popping up with a foreign name in a Korean school, it sets me off.
I leave that fan fiction immediately.
And as an author, do you want that?
No, right?
Then take care of the characters' names and the setting which they are in.
Thank you.
PS: I have read many fan fictions, probably from my fandom of BTS, where the male lead is obviously one of our boys, the female (or other male) lead is Y/N, they're in Korea and every single friend of hers (or his) has an American/English name.
It pissed me off real bad but guess what I didn't comment as usual. I don't know if I should feel good or bad about it.
