I am woken abruptly by the morning sun peeking through my curtains. I stretch upwards, My shoulders and spine give several loud satisfying cracks and I yawn. Glancing at the clock on my bedside I realize it is nearly lunch already. I hurry into my clothes and rush downstairs. "Look who's awake!" My uncle calls. I look at my father stressed and covered in bandages. "How are you doing? Feeling any better?" "not stress-speaking but physically... I'm fine." "Well that's good to hear" I smile at him and do a funny walk to the large dining table where a beautiful brunch is awaiting me. As we eat, my uncle speaks up, "I'm sorry for last night." The silence is awkward as I process what he said. "It's okay, I shouldn't have eavesdropped." Dimitri opened his arms, hesitating to offer his affection in fear of rejection. I looped my arms around him and he held me for a moment. When I returned to my seat I decided to question the two of them about what I'd heard. Thanatos sighed, "I suppose you should know. Your magical prowess is almost as impressive as mine and completely untapped. This means that your power has yet to manifest as magic," I nodded and he continued, "The men at the meeting hoped to kill me and take you for their own gain. I am too old and my power has already become magic in its own right. They can't use my power for anything because I control it too well." I nodded in understanding and finished my breakfast in silence.
