I woke up in the arms of Dimitri. His fingers running through my hair almost put me back to sleep. He hadn't slept. He was talking with Talia, something about me and Cecilia. "Oh good morning love! How'd you sleep?" I yawn and twist to get away from the light. Dimitri snorts and puts me down on the bed. "I wanna keep sleeping." My whines are ignored by Talia who proceeds to pull me to my feet, pushes Dimitri from the room, and begins to dress me.
My dress from last night is discarded and replaced with one of my favorite outfits. Black pants, tight around the waist, flared around the calves, and tight around the ankles. My shirt is a deep sea green with gold detailing. The long black coat is the final detail. By the time I'm fully awake, Talia is almost done with my hair. Two dutch braids hanging over my shoulder. I look like someone wove pure magic into the braids. The black and gold look great against my skin. I look like a goddess.
Talia snorts. "You said that out loud." I flush and avert my gaze. She steps back and I spin before the mirror admiring my figure. "All right then, let's go to breakfast." Dimitri meets us at the bottom of the stairs breathing hard."We need to get you some kind of lift." Talia snickers behind her hand, "I thought you were the right hand of the mighty king of dragons." He huffs and motions us to follow him. The dining hall is empty except for a maid who tells us to check the library.
My father is asleep on one of the sofas his chest rising and falling in a slow steady motion as he dozes. He is particularly pretty when he's asleep, his long ebony hair (usually so neat) falls across his shoulders, the usual stern look replaced by something resembling peace. I step forward with the intention of curling up against his side as I usually do. Instead of a spot against his chest wide open for the claiming my eyes fall upon the form of Cecilia. Him and Cecilia. Napping together was our thing. Something only me and Thanatos did together.
