My sixteenth birthday came and went and my training slowed to a stop. Most of my time is spent around the garden, in the kitchen, or wandering the town. Wandering around town was my current activity of choice. The market was alive with people, dragon-kin, elves, fae and humans alike. My maid, Talia, was at my side to point out fabrics that would look good on me. I settled on a deep grey-green colored silk.

My birthday was soon and more than anything I wanted people to see me as approachable. Not dangerous. I wanted everyone to forget about what had happened in the gymnasium. So much so that I'd almost forgotten my birthday. 17 was special, a coming of age for the people of my father's kingdom. A lucky number.

Along with the silk I chose light blue tulle to give the dress layers. I wanted something to make me look like I was wearing a cloud. Gold thread for embroidery and black sequins for something pretty around the waist. "Another daughter?!" The shriek came from across the street, "No way, the king only had one daughter."

My interest overcame my urge to mind my own business and I walked over, "What do you mean second daughter?" The woman stared for a moment, "'avent you 'eard missus. Rumor 'as it the kings got another daughter like yourself. A pretty blonde thing, a bit younger then you I reckon." I was silent for a moment, "Thank you for telling me," I smiled, "I should be going now." We strode away from the small crowd who had gathered to hear the woman gossip.

Our return to the castle was uneventful except for a few pitying stares and the occasional whisper of, "poor girl." I had Talia bring the fabrics back to my room while I had a word with my father. "Dad." He looked up, "Hello Harmonia, did you go to the market?" I nodded my affirmation, "I heard an interesting rumor while I was there. You have a second daughter?" He raised his eyebrows at me before sighing and pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Harmonia, I think I would know if I had a second daughter. It's just a rumor." I pursed my lips and turned away to leave. "Harmonia," I look back, "you will always be my daughter, remember that. I won't ever leave you." I nod and smile before turning to leave. I need to make a plan. Step one: who started the rumor, step two: who is the rumor about, and step three: are the rumors true. Talia is quick to volunteer her service in assisting me to carry out my plan.
